Dear members,

kindly advise me.

I get the answer: 43.3.4.6,61

In 43, seems like to eliminate evil, first expose it in order to gain public support.

In 61, to influence others, there is no better way than through the truth that lies within us.

Does that means I should bring the corruption to light with integrity(be honest with myself and others)? How to achieve that?

thoughts?

The way it sounds to me, unfortunately you can't do anything about it.
You can't and shouldn't act. It sounds like things will get pretty bad, but
i don't think it's in your power to do anything to avert it. Keep the truth
in your heart and look after yourself.

I can't see anything in this reading I'd take as 'don't act'..indeed misfortune comes from not speaking out (43.6) and its not good to pretend things are all okay/put on a brave face (43.3) I think Hilarys take on 43.3 is not to worry too much about how you look, don't set your face like stone. It may be uncomfortable to express this , it may be bring some trouble but its okay.

Also if you take 43 and 61 as a sentence as i would here with the 3 moving lines then it may read as 'speaking your truth (43) with inmost sincerity'.(61)

Of course without knowing the situation I cannot advise you but on the face of it, just looking at the hexagrams I'd say it was important to act according to your inner truth (61) and speak your truth without aggression, but with conviction (43) to whom ever it is appropriate.(obviously taking your own safety into account)

Line 43.3 says that to speak out will certainly cause you problems and to be alienated by your colleagues but if you feel that the truth must be exposed at any cost then go for it. You will need to contact newspapers and civil rights groups in order to get your point across.

Line 43.4 says that you cannot hit this problem head on, you need to talk to others, gather evidence etc, this requires strategy.

Line 43.6 says that if you wait too long then the opposition will become too difficult to expose but remember, corruption can only be checked, never eliminated.

Hex 61 If you are honest then you will find cooperation.

The question boils down to this. Are you willing to accept the pain and grief you will receive if you expose the corruption? Only you can answer that. It will not be a pretty picture, but you will have to decide if it is worth it or not.

43 is such an interesting hex in these situations. It refers to a point when things that build up over time, accumulate and come crashing down. The cloudburst of accumulated water over heaven. It is a decisive moment and yes it may refer to speaking out. It is necessary to notify the capital city – (interesting idea when you think of the political formation of Singapore) but not to take up arms. The key with the cloudburst is to be in some sort of control during the deluge or the monsoon could wipe you out as anyone who has been in one could testify. Look at the physical shape of the lines – one yang short of the Creative – there is a lot of accumulated energy in this.

Hilary (I think) once suggested that when 61 is the context hex it acts as a vehicle for the primary – in this case we are talking about the inner truth of speaking out. In this sense I am with Gene…. Can you handle it?

So, what to do? First get channel and dike building I reckon (in order to handle it) – timing in other words and preparation. You cannot take up arms so a more subtle approach is called for. (Guess it depends on the level of the organisation where the corruption comes from) You can hardly take it to the Board if they are implicated.

43.3 is such a strange line in my experience but two things stand out – you are alone and you cannot challenge this directly even if that implies to external observers that you are complicit. Keep your truth inside and don’t be afraid if you get talked about or if those “counter voices” in your head challenge this.

43.4 don’t go on a crusade and don’t be stubborn about this. Idealism is all well and good but not if you end up in jail or unemployable. The advice is to keep very, very cool even if you feel otherwise.

43.6 goes back to being in control again and says once again – don’t think you are out of the dirt just because things look favourable don’t be careless – keep cool. Maybe you will have another opportunity further down the line when your own position is more secure.

I am guessing that you are not so old – and youthful idealism and passion is such a potent force – but sometimes to be truly effective it needs directing, maturing and channelling. Not taming – directing.

A little aside: Someone I know very, very well, left an academic path in a famous institution because of the massive injustices she uncovered elsewhere during PhD research. She knew that if she had uncovered them then others “higher up” (including in her own institution) must know at least some of what she knew. She realised that writing about this in her PhD thesis would gather more dust than attention, and she also knew that as an “unknown” academic it wasn’t going to get media attention. So she went off and trained hard to be a multi-skilled broadcast journalist which gave her the leverage to convince an amazing film director to partner her and turned it into documentary which had a global audience many millions. Dikes and channels……:D

Johnny no-one can advise you what to do it is an important and personal decision – just be in control of the deluge and at least get an umbrella.

best wishes (and now I understand your Qs in the Reading Circle)
