How to Find Love? 57.4.5 > 50

I've been feeling a little discouraged about my lack of a dating life lately. I moved to NYC about a year ago, and despite the vastly larger "dating pool", I've still been struggling to find a romantic relationship. The one man I've found here who I've felt a strong physical/emotional attraction to is in a long-term relationship, and I've accepted that I'm never going to be with him.

So I thought I'd ask the I Ching specifically "in a city of 8 million people, how can I find my soulmate?" (or life-partner, twin flame, whatever you want to call it). 57 with the 4th and 5th lines changing was the response.

Curious to see how others would interepret this? Thanks!

I’ve been reading a few translations. Feel like in relation to my question, 57 is telling me I should be myself, stay open to whatever comes to me, be patient, flexible… That working on improving myself, even in small ways, and being persistent in that, will help me find a partner.

That maybe I’ll meet a man soon who I am compatible with, but if I do, to go slow and act gently (not fall head over heels as I often do haha.)

That's sort of what I'm getting from 57! Not entirely sure what to make of the changing lines though.

I'm just givin' my 2 cents here, a very thin one because I'm into I Ching for a very little time.
You can see that the resulting hexagram is 50, the Cauldron. It is the context of your query. For me, generally, it says "Heaven is cooking something", and it gives me solace. But you can also relate the 8M people in your city with a caldron full of possibilities, on the making.
The resulting lines may be telling you to work on yourself, on yr weak points, and then you will succeed (line 5).
I'm having a wee go here. Lets wait for the pro's!

Hi there! New to this forum but not to the oracle. Have kinda a weird situation, and trying to figure out what my I Ching reading is telling me about it. I'm currently doing work-trade for a friend of mine in NYC, and have been for about a year. I have a small apartment with a second bedroom...

Ah sorry! I hadn’t been on this site in weeks and I completely forgot to check back on that last post before uploading this new question. Thank you for your responses (to this and the previous one)! I’ll update the last post with the outcome of that situation.

For once I really see the relating hexagram here. I think basically Yi's saying that even though you haven't "caught" love yet, you've been entering into a new environment (57), catching many sorts of things (57.4) and putting them all into your vessel, and they're busy simmering (/threshing, 57.5) into something worthwhile.

Not finding love in a year doesn't mean you never will.

57.4 Don’t worry about it. Just put yourself out there and celebrate everything you do catch, every small or big successful thing.

Hidden line 44,5 You can’t force it. It will all come together at the right moment. Enjoy experiences and good things in the meantime.

It sounds like being active and open to synchronicity, to me. And also maybe you have more options than you think? It seems like being open and available, appreciating fun or good conversation or one good date, in the meantime, will help lead where you want to go.

both 57 & 50 say be patient, the process goes on slowly, it is shaped little by little & and "cooks" if you will.

57.4: You master some situations, regrets pass; and 57.5: while the beginning doesn't seem good, the end will bring good fortune.
