I became lazy and depressed recently due to some personal issues that I'd rather not share. This is my second bout with depression I've faced, although it's not as severe as before but debilitating enough. The first time it happened I couldn't even get out of bed or bathe regularly (at least twice a month I did, IIRC, memory's hazy). I asked the iching, "How do I become motivated?" I forgot how I worded it exactly, but it's definitely about getting motivated. 10.4.5

What I can gather from the lines, is basically doing something somewhat risky? I'm not even sure what it should be, if that's the case. Perhaps I should consult the iching about that also.

I think Yi is going straight to you beyond the question. There's a tiger here that's dangerous so I think this is the depression, your fears about the depression returning.

I don't think it is returning because of line 4. So you are scared this depression is going to eat you up like a tiger but it misses you, it doesn't catch you, you escaped just in time. So I think you will find fears about depression subsiding. Line 5 calls for great bold ness in action which is really scary and can be dangerous but it can also wake you up.

If you aren't scared you could make a really bold move in some direction. I think in answer to your 'how' Yi is saying well you go for what you want even if it looks terrifying you just go for it. That will motivate you because you'll be full of energy. There's danger often in expressing who we are and what we want especially if our way is unusual or different. But you can strike out in some way now, you can push through some barrier that has held back your self expression.

So I see this as a suggestion that you need not fear and you can be bold and if being bold scares you well that's part of you recovering from this debilitating illness.

Here I feel the 41 is a sense of loss that is behind all this. You may have felt a real loss and now maybe it's time to go and get what you need.

It is possible to see 41 differently here but that's my sense of it. Looking at the change patterns I think you have a lot of stored energy, stored impulses to act that you have held back. Holding back impulses can lead to depression as all that energy turns back in on itself. I think you can make things simpler (41) and more fulfilling by doing what you want to do. Make sure you do what you want to do.

Also edited to add think about Tigers and what motivates them. They are very motivated creatures they don't question themselves they do what they have to do. I think getting a dose of Tiger energy would be a great antidote to depression. Have you any tiger pictures to put around you ?

I know I am contradicting myself because I've said we can also think of the tiger as the depression, the thing that eats you. But I feel if you don't let that tiger out in line 5 you might risk a kind of backfiring of the Tiger energy you have in you.

Set your inner tiger free.

41. Decrease suggests to me that it would benefit you to narrow your focus. Depression kicks in when we try to do too much.

Thanks so much guys. I have been called a restless person, I guess I do have a lot of stored, pent up energy. I think it might be my inhibition of expressing it is what's got me feeling down as well. I am afraid to express it because I know it's very uncontrollable once I let it out. I think step by step, or treading with it might be a solution. I can be very extremely impatient though, and kind of like a bulldozer when I let it out - and it's caused a lot of regret when I've done it. It's a very forceful and thoughtless energy. I think that may be why I tend to hold it back. I'm having a tough time looking inside of myself because it's very scary, it's totally unlike how I behave on the outside. Probably an inner/outer Aries/Capricorn conflict I'm having. Getting some outside perspective is helpful, both of you are making sense, and you barely know me.

That's enough rambling, thanks again.

An update

I ended up taking Trojina's advice a bit literally, but it has helped motivate me a lot. I'm trying to open an online store, which has the word Tiger as part of the name. And I've been trying to be cautious on all the requirements I need to open it, like the requirements for importation. I've read stories online about people being taxed a huge amount for ordering bulk items when importing them to their country. I'm trying to tread as carefully as I can. And for rosada, at first I was thinking about doing a bunch of other small jobs, but I decided to limit my focus and to really concentrate on my online store. Using the iching and what I know about other divination tools, I hope this turns out well.

Hello Moksha,
just got this reading when asking about how to deal with a good friend of mine, whom I like a lot, and he is lovely, but he is a difficult person, maybe even depressed, and tends to "eat me up". Well, I'll tread carefully!
Hope you fully recovered from depression in the meantime and got lots of tiger energy!

How are things going for you now, moksha_? Tigers have a way of changing their stripes over time, I know, so I wonder if your situation has also changed shape significantly. I found Trojina’s thoughts on tigers particularly helpful for my own reading involving 10.4, and I appreciated seeing your update. Hope you are doing well.

Hello all, I just want to thank the original poster and everyone who commented on this thread - I just got this reading asking for an image of my state of mind, and all the commentary has been very helpful. The last three years have been tremendously difficult, with losses of all kinds, from job to a home I liked to friends and family support to aging, and while I have survived it all and tried everything to restart with a new chapter of life, not much has worked. Along the way, in this solitude, a lot of old trauma has come up for review. Again, I do my best and am proud of making it through, but I can feel my resilience and motivation and optimism fading day by day and week by week. The insights of everyone here at Clarity are always helpful in understanding readings.
