I have a friend with an addiction problem, but is in denial. Heading downward fast but not seeing it. I asked Yi about me intervening. Here's what I got:

What about me confronting X - an intervention?
36 unchanging

What should I do with my concerns and information about X?
46.2.3 to 2

Hex 36 Says you are faced with a big problem here so better to mind your own business for the moment otherwise it could well end up in a fight, so be patient and wait for a better day.

Hex 46.2,3 > 2 It seems to suggest that you go talk with some other people about him and hopefully some progress can be made, then if they are willing to help then just follow what they do.

Thanks WF. This is a problem.

I feel unsure about reading 36 here. Usually I see 36 as a sign to hold back and conceal. But in Karcher I read 36 is also about "beginning a difficult task." Certainly if I were to confront him I would be begiing a difficult task. So could this reading just be reflecting back to me the nature of the situation? Or, could 36 be advice to not go forward?

I had another idea, another way I could have an impact in this situation, and I got 36.1.3 to 2 regarding that. Again, is Yi telling me to hold back, or telling me to move forward with a difficult situation?

Involving other people is a potential option but not one I am feeling comfortable with right now. The challenge is that X is not only hurting himself, he is hurting other people. I am torn between reaching out to help this broken person, and feeling so angry with the way he has hurt me and others that I want him to be accountable and take responsibility for his actions. But I know this is not something he can do, unless forced, because he does not see his errors.

Yes, this is a big problem.
