Weight loss requires the two pronged approach with respect to our physical activity ( reducing intake, increasing output) and aligning our internal thoughts and feelings. When the light shines on the inside then it is easier for the external to follow suit, Even though you seem to be having a time of struggle at the moment it's clear from what you have said in your post that you are still walking the path.
i think i remember you from the thread about Yi giving more direct answer to the question in the resulting hexagram (apologies if i'm wrong) and i'm wondering if maybe that's the case here? 36 can be just pointing to where you currently find yourself (1, 2 and 3 describing stages of your doubts - until the leader gets captured) and to get out of this situation you have to bring back the strong leader (who already managed to do so much great work thusfar! ).
another, maybe a little too far out idea i have, if the paired hex 8 is "associate", then maybe 7 here can also mean disassociate, as in, disassociate from what you feel is troubling you regarding you weight (and focus on getting strong by actually increasing the mass - as the resulting hexagram may suggest)?
and lastly, this is probably how i would read it to myself based on the lines of the army: 1 - go about the exercise in proper order. 2 - set the right frequency. 3 - don’t try too much at once. 4 - when you feel like giving up - you can. sometimes it’s ok. be kind to yourself. 5 - set goals. but again - be forgiving and kind to yourself. 6 - the victory is in keeping it up?
I wasn't the person from that other thread, but these are insightful thoughts anyway. I'm also just starting to learn a new sport, and perhaps that may be what 7 is indicating -- a physical, social activity.
How do I get rid of this belly?!
36.1.2.3 > 7
Fasting for days (36.1) is harmful to you (36.2). There is a cause for not losing the weight and you'll accidentally find it out, and there's no quick solution (36.3). Resulting 7 also means doctor, so in my opinion there's a medical underlying issue.
Hey liquidity!
Something struck me about 36>7 when thinking about my own approach to this sort of thing. After winter I will typically do something like a Whole30 that helps me reset and feel good by only eating simple whole foods for 30 days (with the goal obviously to continue this after the 30 but have a healthier relationship with indulgences). I like the organized, straightforward rules and timeframe. And what I've found really works for me is keeping this to myself, which makes me think of 36. Everyone is different, but I've found outer accountability or public accountability horrible and demotivating. I get organized (7?) internally. I think about my personal why and then I think about how. What is the plan? What are the rules? I personally like a healthy amount of rules. It frees my mind up from analysis paralysis. And then I don't talk about it to my friends or coworkers or family. And that removes all self-imposed pressure and allows me to stay focused within.
Doing this also makes you naturally have to dodge some social scenarios and/or find some resolve while you're in them. Cutting way back on drinking and lowering sugar and carbs can feel a whole lot like 36 when you're out to dinner with your friends who are indulging in wine and loaves of bread. It can be easier to just stay home sometimes as your willpower grows. Maybe the line isn't talking about fasting altogether. Maybe it's talking about fasting from whatever it is others are serving you... on your "wanderings." Donuts at the office? Pasta night at a friend's house? Quietly decline and maybe they'll have "reason to gossip."
Finally, without going into the lines, I will just say that I am a woman and weight lifting has completely changed my body for the better. I'll never give it up. If you aren't doing it, I would very seriously consider it. Your body will begin changing shape very quickly and you will grow leaner just from having more muscle. IF can be less effective for women. I don't do well with it unless I'm naturally not hungry. Be careful with that.
Good luck to you!
The first reaction I had was also to see 36.1 like Diamanda, that it isn't telling you to fast more, but that fasting is counter-productive. It's the first line of the reading, which can represent what you've been doing in the recent past, not necessarily what you ought to do.
If you read it like a continuous story, it might go like this, "Liquidity's been fasting (36.1), which injures her (first part of 36.2). She needs the strength of a horse" etc.
It makes sense to me that "strength of a horse" might mean weight-lifting. (But you'll probably need cardio along with it, or so says things I've read.)
The last couple phrases: "Their great leader is captured. One must not expect perseverance too soon." I think this is encouraging - you've made progress, you're just not done yet. That's okay. Not being done doesn't mean you've failed, it just means you're not done. (And yes, Yi can see you've been working on this for a long time and still chirp that it's "too soon"... )
