This will be my last question for some time to come because I'm going to be really busy. But I always have problems interpreting the yin and yang hexagrams, respectively, 1 and 2. I believe the hexagram is telling me it's going to be a lot of hard work in studying for the exams, but that I'll do OK? I believe that is what it is saying. I hope that is what it's saying. I see the 2 as meaning I will receive what I'm hoping for? Or that I'll get the reward for the hard work I've put in? I just don't really know for sure. Any help, as always, is most appreciated.

The hexagrams are 39, with lines 3 and 5 changing, and the potential hexagram is 2.

Thank you,
J

Hi J,
just saw your post, and just wanted to comment what immediately jumped out at me... in the lines 3 and 5 show people offering assistance and help. Also, in the judgement of hex 2 it mentions following guidance and finding friends
I think may be join with others in a study group type of situation or maybe meet with the professor for guidance? It does seem like it is going to be hard work but I think the advice is not to do it alone

this is from the judgement in hex 2:
"Since there is something to be accomplished, we need friends and helpers in
the hour of toil and effort"

Thank you Alev,

If that's what it means, then I need to do something else. I think my opportunities to study with someone have passed for the most part. I think I'm going to have to do it alone. At least that's how it seems to me. I don't know why I didn't see that. Hmmm.

Is hexagram 2 dependent upon the primary hexagram and its changing line? And what does hexagram 2 mean in this sense? Obviously I need a better understanding of I-ching.

Thank you again
J

Hi Jerusalem
I think your original summary was a fair one.

Hex 39 - Thus the superior man turns his attention to himself and moulds his character

39.3 - Going on as you have been is going to cause you problems.
39.5 - When the chips are down, you'll find the strength within you.

Hex 2 - For me this is where you are now...being receptive to the reality of the situation.
It's now a question of having seen the error of your ways and buckling down to the task in hand.

Be Well

Hello Mike:

Thank you for the confirmation and additional insight. As the days have passed, I find your assessment to be accurate. I'm tempted to do another one, but in this instance, the future is quite mutable, being relative to the the effort I put in and my approach to study. The nature of my studies is difficult, and I can only hope for the best when it comes down to it.

I think I'm supposed to type the text I'm referring to in addition to referring to the hexagrams, so next time I shall do just that. I also plan on contributing to others' postings when I have the chance.

Best!
J.
