Hello All,

It's been a very long time since I've been on the forum. I'm very fortunate to still be alive and able to even come back here. I'll spare everyone the gory details as much as possible:

I'm a recovering addict and I had a HELLISH last two years in a relapse. I wrecked my car several times and as I said am lucky to be here. So, yes I am clean and sober, I have been attending the Tibetan Bon Buddhist Temple here in Pittsburgh and recovery again. I'm meditating and taking a very scary and hard look at ME again  I've been doing some deep, deep, deep healing as of late. Perhaps when one is in emotional and spiritual upheaval it's best not to consult the Yi??????

I'm at a point now in my life where my father is dying and I'm new again to being clean and folks I'm plain terrified. Before consulting the Yi, I've meditated on "where and what to do next". What path should I follow? I don't have any answers. I feel I'm lost. A friend of mine suggested going to massage therapy school....hmmmmm. So I've contemplated it and am still at a loss. I consulted Yi and frankly don't understand the answer. Perhaps I'm asking the wrong question as far as what to do next? If I am....please let me know. Can anyone be so kind as to assist with the following:

"Please show me if massage is the right profession for me"

Hex# 38 9@1st > Hex# 64

Kindest of all regards and thank you :bows:

Although the first line seems very positive, the entire picture is quite bad for this profession. 38 promises disunion, opposition, and many obstacles. The gua says, stay where you are. Don't move forwards and don't move backwards. Whatever is yours will come back to you. 64 says that nothing will go the way you think it will, if you go into this profession. The best thing to do is to find a cooperative venture with others to help you find your way.

My feeling is that you feel threatened right now ( newly sober, losing your dad ) and you are tempted to go after something to make you feel better or more productive. BUt it perhaps is not the right time yet. I think you are advised to wait until a clearer, natural course presents itself. there is more to be revealed. Congratulations on getting clean. Make your sobriety the number one thing in your life. The rest will come ..as it unfolds

Is massage is the right profession for me?
38.1 > 64

Any discipline that will help you overcome your grief and stay sober is right for you. 38.1 seems descriptive of car wrecks and addiction.

Nine at the beginning means:
Remorse disappears.
If you lose your horse, do not run after it;
It will come back of its own accord.
When you see evil people,
Guard yourself against mistakes.

The Judgment of 38, "Opposition. In small matters, good fortune," suggests that a demanding course of study (500 to 1000 hours) might be too much now.

The Judgment of 64 suggests that if you began a course of study, you might not complete it.

Before Completion. Success.
But if the little fox, after nearly completing the crossing,
Gets his tail in the water,
There is nothing that would further.

From a practical point of view, "92 percent of massage therapists identified themselves as sole practitioners or independent contractors in a recent American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) survey." Employment in this area must be hard to come by. If you do not have skills, community colleges offer training economically, and I hope you will consider them.

Your horse has strayed, but don't worry, "it will return of its own accord". "Though evil men may visit him, he remains without error."

I don't think this is talking about massage therapy. I think it's about your recovery and it's telling you that you're on a sound road to that. Maybe you need more time before you know what you really want. Maybe wait 'til that terrified feeling calms down a bit.

Dear Pocossin & jfas,

Thanks to you both as well! I'm making it through TODAY. I'm going to just sit right now (literally meditate) and take this slow. I really can't thank this forum/community enough.
