I asked yi on advice on taking a job offer: 37.6>63 - should I go for it?

Hi there

Well, I just got a job offer from the oil company where I was working last year. However, the job is quite far from where I live and I would have to fly back and forth, probably I'd have to sleep there for a few nights a week, not sure. It's for a 3 month duration, with an option to increase another 3 months, The pay is phenomenal.

I have a little girl of 4, but I stay with my mother, so she could take care of her when I am gone. Still I do feel that it would be challenging.

I asked yijing on advice on the job offer from this company and got 37.6>63

This does seem quite auspicious. I read somewhere that the top line of 37 would represent grandparents. Could this be my mother in this setting? Also seems that 37.6 is about leadership:

Wing: Your character and its development will be enhanced. Your sense of responsibility toward yourself and others brings good fortune and success. You will be recognized and respected for your insights and virtuous works.

Then I asked what is the wisest thing to do regarding this offer 59.1.5>41

59.1 talks about overcoming difficulty?

59.5 talks about a period of disunity but misunderstandings are dispelled through an inspiring idea?


So I should take this job offer, that I difficulties will be overcome and I will eventually have an inspiring idea that solves al of my problems?

Anyway, I really need to get some money, this job pays VERY well, i have to travel which is a pain, but it is for a short period only... I earn as much in 4 months as I do an entire year normally.

I appreciate any guidance on this, I am kind of torn myself. :bows:

Yes. It seems to be saying to take it. The Wilhelm translation talks about taking responsibility when being in charge of the family. I'm not usually one for taking the I Ching too literally, but in this case it seems pretty obvious what you need to do - provide for your family. It might also be referring to the role you'd be playing while being on this job - one of responsibility where you will be appreciated, respected and well paid. Either way, if I got this reading I would go for it.

Yeah, i def need money, and being in this weird space where I really don't know what i am going to be when I grow up (sic), I guess a job that pays really well is a good thing. It is definitely not my heart's desire, working as a company physician, but at the same time I do prefer the philosophy of preventive medicine rather than the damage control medicine we western doctors practice at large.

What I really want, is to never work again for the rest of my life, and for that to happen I must know what I want. And I am having a hard time knowing what I really want. Such a pain in the rear.. I am hoping that maybe this will bring some possibilities and solutions to me on what to do next with my life. All my plans I was going for with so much gusto were laid flat by my 50.4 reading.. I was so sure that was what I wanted, but seems that Tao didn't agree with my capabilities and 'unrealistic goals'.

So I am so torn.. I have to have a purpose more than this... but I guess I have to go it one step at a time, and this is just the road I have to walk right now.. I hope..

The famous threesided beaters.. some kind of forces at work to create differentiation, bad people go, good people come? Trust in fate to bring you the right people, circumstances?

I've had 8.5 before about a relationship that was fairly loosely defined, which bothered me at the time, but the advice was to keep it loose and let the guy be with me because he wanted to, not because I was trying to force him to be with me. How this relates to your situation, I am not sure. You've asked quite a few questions about this job and many of them seem mostly the same, so the answer may well reflect your state of mind about this, rather than an actual concrete answer. So the question is, were you still thinking about whether you should take this job when you cast the coins for this latest question or whether you have made a decision to take it and are now thinking about how to handle it. That's up to you to know
It could be telling you how to handle yourself at this job - i.e. to let patients come to you so you can treat them Or yeah, it could be saying to trust your luck and accept that what comes to you is yours and belongs with you - like this job did, at a time when you need money.

Either way, like you said, it's for a short period of time, it's a lot of money and you need the money. I find that having a full bank account helps take the pressure off thinking about what you really want to do.

Totally.. even though I long for a money-free society, until then, I need to eat and pay bills.

Yeah I also feel that the casts are somehow saying the same thing. My only problem is the distance, apart from that, I want the job. I will find workable solutions. Thanks for sharing!

Update: I said yes to the job, and then it turned out that I didnt have to travel, in fact it was the exact same position i had in 2012. I also got the contract extended until end of March. It has been great ,I have been offshore, traveling just enough to make it interesting, I have really enjoyed myself. Pity it is drawing to a close.
