Hi everyone,

I've been using the Yi for many years, though I don't recall it ever speaking to me in dreams. Over the last month or two, I've frequently dreamed of certain hexagrams. In the last ten days or so, the process has intensified to where I'm seeing Yi every night with multiple hexes in each dream. Sometimes they are in the sky (written in stars at night or black lines in a grey sky). Or they show up in email messages or journals. Sometimes I focus on the hexagram numbers (like I'm making a mental note to remember the message when I wake), other times I'm observing the shapes (these usually relate to soft- inside hexes like 61, 9 and 26) and appreciating their beauty. The process had touched something deep in me that I can't quite put my finger on yet. It's like there's something at the edge of my consciousness that is so strong yet elusive. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with gratitude and spiritual connection, other times I'm impatient as I can't make sense of it all and feel confused and a bit nuts. I've been casting in "waking life" mainly to get a sense of what it all means and where this is taking me. (got 50 a couple times, plus some other readings that I'm trying to work out).

Anyway, I'm grateful for this community. I don't have anyone in my life who knows or understands the Yi, thus no one to share this with. I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced I Ching dreams at some point, and what impact it's had in their life.

Thank you :bows:
Mary

I haven't ever dreamed of the Yi but I think your experience shows what we know of it barely scratches the surface of what it really is. To you its not just a book to give answers or a hook to hang your theories of life on (hey that sorta rhymed) its more near and real.

That's interesting :)
Do you cast pretty much everyday or just when you have an issue you're struggling with?
Sounds quite overwhelming... I guess the more you use the Yi and become accustomed to it's richness, the more it's like a well pulling you towards infinite wisdom and honesty (however much you struggle )... a universe of information at your finger tips which defies rationality and time... The more I use it and understand the depth of thought, knowledge and experience in the lines, the more absorbing and relevant it is, and the more I'd like to understand how it works, and why more people aren't aware of it as an illuminator of daily social life.. It is such an efficient guideline, which appears to speak to us individually and universally.. I guess perhaps some are too proud to even think of using it ;) which is ok too.... some people don't question things so much I guess...

Thanks to you both.

I liked what you said Trojan, about barely scratching the surface. The divination aspect is one thing, though the Yi goes so much deeper than that.

Em Ching-- I cast pretty regularly (once or twice a week), even when things are going well  . Sometimes it's good just to check in. Other times I ask about stuff that's going on in the world, or about others in my life if there's a need to offer help. Like you said, it contains infinite wisdom and honesty... If you're new, I'd suggest journaling your readings as it helps to go back every few years and watch the process develop. Anyway, what I'm experiencing with these dreams is overwhelming, but in a really good way. It feels like a gift and I want to treat it with care. This forum is a blessing since I discovered it around the same time as my Yi dreams started (maybe there's a connection?). As I research these very personal dream readings, I'm also tapping into a collective Yi experience. So thanks to everyone, and especially Hillary for the opportunity. (And gotta say, I love the memorizing threads most of all!)
