Hi friends. I have been around this forum for some years now. I love IChing, also Tarot, Astrology, Numerology.
My first love was astrology, my second IChing, then tarot, but I ended up being totally in love - and sometimes very much intrigued - by Tarot and now I am really willing to learn more about it. I have been 'studying' it for years. Well, 'study' is maybe a strong word, better saying I have been buying books, decks, looking at the cards and doing (oh my God!) MILLIONS of readings for myself and trying to learn something from them, correlating the cards, reading the cards meanings, trying to let my intuition flow and so on, but I must confess I dont think I am succeding.
Due to lack of money I cant afford a good course so I feel frustrated as I am restricted to books, online things and sometimes basic 1 day courses about the major arcanas, the archetypes, then the minor and etc. I have been gifted by transcriptions of tarot lectures and I myself have some I have attended but I still feel frustrated.
I would like to know if any one of you knows of a good book or a good site or a good online free course, anything, that can help me, or if by any chance any one of you gives online or long distant courses or have a list I could join.
I really would be grateful if someone helps me in this.
I want to learn tarot in a deeper way and then start to develop my skills, then I want to do the same with the I-Ching and my intention is to use both in a reading, one complementing the other, or confirming, or spreading new lights on the same reading.
So please if anyone can help giving me some direction I really will be very happy.
Thanks and sorry for my English, it is not my first language.

Hello Claire-
The Clarity site has a search engine.
If you search for Tarot you will find lots of threads where this was recently discussed.
There are also several Yahoo forums where you can ask this question.

Dearest Claire:

Don't be so hard on yourself. Your English language skills are very good. As for the Tarot, Brad's suggestion is a good one there are a lot of postings on the Tarot on the Clarity site.

Since you've read many books, might I suggest that it's time now to trust your own intuition a bit. For instance, the readings that you've done in the past for yourself and others, how accurate have they been? Possibly there is a lot to be learned from those.

My two cents.

Claire,

I'm a member of TABI - the Tarot Association of the British Isles.

We provide free readings over the Internet.

Here's the web address www.TABI.org.uk

TABI offers a free on-line course and if you want, you can apply to become a TABI reader. You will then be assigned a mentor and you will have the chance to do genuine readings for other people.

I think that this is the best way to learn Tarot. Not reading for yourself. Reading for strangers.

TABI is run by volunteers and is a non-profit making organisation. I've found them to be completely genuine and I'd recommend them for anyone in the UK or elsewhere who wants to deepen their knowledge of Tarot.

Best wishes,

Mick

I would like at this time to say a kind word about the Holitzka I Ching card deck.

I went through a phase when I was just learning the lay of the land, and trying to memorize all the hexagram bar diagrams (with incomplete success, I have to confess) that I handled the Holitzka deck a lot with great pleasure.

The artist is Swiss or German, I think. The images are fake Chinese brush painting, with a Zennish painterly sloppiness. There's no real basis for this, but no reason for it not to be that way, either. Also, as illustrations of the notion of the hexagram, they follow the Wilhelm line of thought, and sometimes are REALLY clever and astute, and (more importantly) never are really annoying as you get to know what they're about.

If there are other I Ching card decks that are pretty and are rather simple, I'd love to hear about them.

You can study, ask questions, meet card readers, participate in deck design, and learn about hundreds of decks at a forum much like this one at Aeclectic Tarot http://www.tarotforum.net/ The common language is English but participants come from all over the globe. Pop on over, register (it's free) and introduce yourself on the New Members forum and you'll find yourself right at home.
On the issue of "intuition": different people find it easiest to learn to read in different ways. Using "intuition" is quite common, though this term seems to mean no more than looking at the cards and making up stories. Some of us are more comfortable working within a particular well-defined system like the Golden Dawn, with interlocked astrological, runic, and kabalistic symbolism. You don't even have to believe in the system to make it work for you in readings. Ask about it on ATF and you'll get all the help you need to find your own way.

Hi Claire

Like you my first love is astrology, then i-ching and lately i've been looking into tarot as well as i feel that both can enhance my understanding of things.

That said i'm truly glad i've found this forum, although i wish i had found it earlier, as i'm still very green when it comes to using e i-ching and finally there are people who can hopefully help with me some questions that have been nagging at me. Hopefully i can develop my understanding of e i-ching here to a higher level.

Thank you so much for all of those links. I've always been interested in learning more about Tarot. I started my interest about 10+ yrs ago while in high school.
