Important trip coming up

I'll be going to Greece soon to see family and take care of business and I wanted to know how things will turn out for me there. FYI I do not really want to go. It's a country in complete financial ruin with many negative events unemployment poverty and social uprises.

Show me an image of how my trip to Greece will turn out?

Hexagram 14 lines 2,3 and 6 changing into hexagram 51

People I do not like hexagram 51 at all!! Shocking events? An earthquake? I'll be shocked to the core with what I'll discover? I'm in no mood for any more suprises. Pls help.

Hexagram 51 usually does not mean an earthquake but rather an arousing state of affairs . . .

Hexagram 14, Great Possession, seems to be pointing to the fact that you'll be with your family. Family members can be our greatest 'possessions.' Line 3 points to some difficulty, maybe feeling like an outsider, it's hard to say. But the auspice of top line moving is so positive that it overcomes all adversity. You will be under the protection of heaven and that means having heaven's help -- no matter what you do. Bon voyage!

Yes I'm going because of an unsettling state of affairs and I need to be there to help and support my family. ok after many shocking events that my family has been through things will be set in order I hope

It sounds like a very difficult situation. Yet the top line moving in hexagram 14 indicates that everything will turn out very well in your trip to Greece. It's a very fortunate line.

Hi Ginnie I take the changing lines as how I feel about sth or actual events or changes I woud like to happen. This is my experience to date with the I Ching. For me the resulting hexagram shows the direction things will go. I'm going to Greece for great possessions true - my inheritance. It also shows my feelings I think that I feel like an outsider whenever I go there and that I hope things will go smoothly for me and that my affairs will be protected by heaven.

I do not like the resulting hexagram. Nothing good ever comes out of hexagram 51 for me and nothing good ever happpens when I visit Greece in the past. It means shocking and unsettle events IMO. I might have to ask what are the shocking events that will take place when I get there I think. Sometimes the I Ching needs a string of questions to get to the core meaning. Cheers!

Please ! You have gotten this totally out of proportion ! Read around the forum. 24.1 says for pity's sake return to your own peace of mind...well it doesn't say the 'pity's sake bit'.

51 does not have to mean literal earthquakes ! IMO it's most often excitement, frisson, enlivenment.

Look at the reading 14.2.3.6>51 ! How can you be worried about that ? 51 is not the 'result' at all it is the backdrop.

I mean it's a good reading...could you have better auspice than 14.6. The reading asks what you can afford, you may need to be generous, but can you afford to be ? This is what you need to ask yourself rather than be looking superstitiously for terrible shocks.

If you believe in all these frightening predictions that are not there is it a good idea to consult Yi ? I mean if 14.2.3.6>51 frightens you then what would a dicier reading do ?

I've been consulting for years and not once has 51 told me of an actual shock ! You are just going by the hexagram name without reading the text. It does say if one carries the sacrificial bowl with care one comes through laughing. Read it all, the Judgement etc. Of course 51 is where you come from not where you are going anyway...so ?

This reading is mainly about what you have to offer, it encourages generosity.

ETA 24.1 advises you to come back from the misguided notion that a terrible shock is in store ! There is no basis to think so and you are leading yourself astray.

I know this will be a very hard trip for you, but I think it is worst now, as you are thinking of all the things that could go wrong. You have a feeling of tension and foreboding. You are NOW in the state of 51, and that will probably not be true later, when you actually get to Greece. Well, I guess we all know that family relations are difficult. That is true for most of us. Best to take deep breaths and just get on with it. I mean, you have to go -- that's what anyone would do.

Thanks Trojina I read the link and I liked how you analyzed the whole thing. I'm stuck on Karcher's explanation of primary and resulting hexagrams. But I would like to say that both times I've had 51 I did initially feel agitated and flustered but later laughed it off when I calmed down.
