Inferior Influence & 30.2 > 14

I asked a follow-up question about a particular casting in which 43 was a resulting hexagram. I took 43 to suggest that an "inferior force" was being eradicated from said situation.

My follow-up question was:

"What is the nature of the inferior force being removed?"

And got: 30.2 > 14.

I'm hard-pressed to interpret the answer as it seems such an overwhelmingly "positive" answer. Is the answer not defining the negative element per se, but rather suggesting the dynamic that is being revealed as the inferior influence ebbs? Or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hi M,

I suggest you try interpreting 43 more as speaking your mind, being your true self, and see if that answer makes more sense.

30.2 is considered the middle path or golden mean, which is why it leads to or is related with 14.

So it seems to say, speak your mind, let your truth be known, but refrain from degrading anyone else in the process. Stay true, centered, and your message will be understood.

To answer your deleted question, M, LiSe's Yijing is responsible for my shift of 43's dynamic from Wilhelm's "Breakthrough" since about ten years ago. It plays out in real time very effectively. Like Jimi's "let your freak flag fly." Just don't poke anyone in the eye with the staff! :)

Oh, thanks! I deleted it because just after I asked, I was checking out LiSe's site, and saw it there.

I take it this interpretation has played out more usefully for you over the years?

Ha! that's funny.

Yes, I have. But they're not altogether different either. It's a question of emphasis and timing. For example, when is the most common time when you need to proclaim yourself, your works, your beliefs, convictions, intentions, etc? Isn't it typically after or part of a breakthrough?

Very very true. Although I get hung up, in practical terms, because how do I evaluate the motivations behind my needs? I mean, I'm certainly not at a point in which my actions are always as pure as they could be. I'm not a bad person, but I act out of fear and weakness just as much as anyone else.

How do we clearly differentiate a justified need to express ourselves from a more egotistical attempt to force an issue or just hear ourselves talk? I know the difference between blustering and impassioned speech when I hear it, but for some reason it isn't always as clear when I'm the one doing the stumping!!!!

Anyways, I kind of got off topic there. Thanks for the connection, that is really helpful.

Excellent questions, and I think right on point of 43.
