Hello Everyone I don't know if you remember way back 4 months ago I had doubts and questions about my recently deceased father's estate. He did not leave a will. The lawyers have started the process and me and my sister are now waiting for the lawyers to contact us to legally receive our inheritance. It's taking too long. We have a 6 months deadline.

I asked how will legal matters turn out regarding inheritance from deceased father estate?

HEXAGRAM 12 LINE 4 AND 5 INTO HEXAGRAM 23

I'm wondering if anyone can give me feedback on this.

First, I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you are healing and feeling ok.

In general, 12.4.5 is a very positive set of lines. It says quite broadly that the time of standstill is ending, and if you are a capable person and have acted in accordance with the good, things will shift in your favor. That said, 23 is a hexagram that usually gives me a shudder, and nothing in lines 4 and 5 of 12 is a given-- those lines are keen to stress the "if". If you have been called, if you have been good, if you have been strong, if you have "the necessary authority"...then the right people will follow you. That's the gist of line 4. Line 5 is all about how things are about to change for the better, but that this is the very time when you must be the most cautious. "Success is assured only through greatest caution, which asks always, 'What if it should fail?'" And in Confucius's commentary on this line, "the superior man does not forget danger in his security, not ruin when he is well established, nor confusion when his affairs are in order. In this way he gains personal safety and is able to protect the empire."

To be frank, throwing 23 into the mix makes me wonder if the positive aspect of those lines will not prevail. But, it is very hard to glean from your post exactly what is happening to hold up the inheritance. Are there others making claims on the estate? Did he have debts? Are the lawyers bad lawyers? Is there any conflict within the family? And I don't understand the 6 month deadline-- what happens after that, do taxes change?

Not that you need to answer all of those questions but it is very hard to interpret the reading in greater detail without info on what the problem really is.

That said, perhaps what I wrote about 12.4.5 will ring a bell as it is!

Best of luck to you.

How will legal matters turn out regarding inheritance from deceased father's estate?
12.4.5 > 23

I think things will turn out well because 23 suggests the division of property, the aim of the inheritance process. As a practical matter, why not contact the lawyers by email and ask how legal matters are progressing? In my experience, professionals often wait until the last possible moment to file legal papers.

.

I came here at clarity to check a reading about our inheritance matter.

I really believe you need to ask someone to explain to you in simple words , not the lawyer jargon, what is going on.

Legally you are, by now ,the owner of your father's estate. if you don't refuse to accept the heritage - in courts- you own it. 4 months means that the deadline to refuse- for any reason - your heritage has expire.

"there is no will" : I'm almost sure that your sister - mingling with local people, have heard what to do with that. Actually there is not problem - just some additional taxes - that's all.You can avoid that.Ask lawyer.

6 months is not correct !! Its not a hard deadline I mean. Its 6 + 3 months in the worst scenario. Time pass quickly , so i'm not saying it to relax but just not to get anxious.

If i recall correct you only get two pieces : a house and a land. If they are clean of other burdens, consider your self lucky, VERY lucky... e x t r e m e l y lucky !!! . The process is a nightmare even if its for such a simple case . do yourself a favor and not worry for the points you mention. From here is just misconceptions. Focus your effort to find the money for the taxes and fees to specialist you need for the papers and move on.

Best of luck.

Thank you Pocossin!
I was hoping hex 23 meant division of property. You are also very correct about lawyers leaving it the last minute. After I posted this I did some yelling and threatened lawyers I would cancel power of attorney and do it myself. Suddenly everything moved quickly :) I had called banks and government agencies and they told me the certificates I require only take 1 month not 6 months! The lawyers were lying to us.

Thank you Anemos. My sister and I have become extremely informed on Greek inheritance laws. The problem was the lawyers who left everything the last minute. The certificate of inheritance (klironomitirio) and all other relevant docs were sitting in the office. We do not pay any taxes according to the lawyers just a fee at the bank.

I would like to update how great the I Ching is. Hexagram 23 exact meaning:

At present there is no goal or destination which can be sought with advantage. I didn't know why I had received this answer but today I discovered why with some information I received. It is not to my advantage to travel to Greece or pursue this matter further at present.
