Initially a skeptic - now not so much...

I must say, I was a born skeptic when it came to things like the iching. How can arbitrarily casting coins (the method I prefer) somehow tell us about ourselves or reveal a potential future situation? It seemed absurd. Then I went through a rough patch in my life - I suffered from depression, lost a family member and while clearing out her belongings came across an old book of iching hexagrams. It was beautifully bound and the in-depth nature of the readings prompted me to try my hand at casting a question, the nature of which I don't recall. I shelved the book and forgot all about it.

Recently I split up from my girlfriend, who remains very dear to me. I think about her all the time and feel her loss terribly, something I haven't felt since the bereavement described above in fact! Again, I turned to the iching (I feel bad that I only seem to consult it when i'm sad!) and received a series of interesting readings. All of which, over a period of a few months, seem to relate to a similar theme: that of recovery.

My questions always stem around reuniting with my ex girlfriend. How this would be possible and if I was making progress. I feel that the iching has charted my internal feelings and progress with the answers I got:

25.1.4 > 20

Keep a low profile, don't get entangled in anything for now and treat (her) with respect. Don't try anything too clever to win her back. Just be yourself. Line 4 changing was interesting especially as it implied what i'd lost would return someday. Who knows...

The 20 I took to say develop yourself and look after your needs - be still and examine the situation.

45.2 > 47

At a time of trying to reunite or form a group one must keep their wits about them and watch for an opportune moment. The changing line was striking as it warned me that I could get exhausted if I carried on worrying about this? Very true.

52 (unchanging)

I thought i'd ask the iching one more time, as I wasn't sure what was going on and this time it seemed to speak to me most directly: just stop it!! Worry about yourself (like 20) or else you'll become tired (like 47). Just meditate and relax.

There seems to be a common theme running through all of my responses, none of which seemed to be totally arbitrary (like, for example, if i'd got hexagram 22). I'm not sure if i'm just interpreting and forcing MY situation on the readings and looking too much into it, but it seems that there is a nice theme going through this and it has helped calm me down anyway. I still miss her like crazy but have spent more time looking after myself, and worrying less about the situation. Maybe that is the true legacy of the iching - to give us some advice we'd not normally get - impartial and sage-like. I just have to wait to see how the whole thing pans out...

I agree with your interpretations of your readings and I see you have developed an excellent relationship with Yi! This is good to see! :)
