I became a chronic insomniac and it affects my work, my driving and generally my mood.:mad: So I asked 'What is the best cure for my insomnia?' 39.2.4.5>32
It seems to talk about friends and obstructions? Cannot make any sense of this answe :brickwall::bows:
I recently got a hepatitis b shot and I found out side effect can be insomnia. Also stress is always there, it's constant.

When you get this sorted out, Jeanie, please share it with me. I've wrestled with insomnia most of my adult life. Maybe looking at your reading may help us both. Let's see...

39.2,4,5 ...

line 2, sovereign minister is set back, but it's not his/her fault. So it's not due to something morally or ethically wrong. (for me there's barking dog problems that wake me, a sound I'm particularly sensitive to)

line 4, if you can't go forward you come back. I think this is where we get into trouble. Speaking for myself, my mind is in gear and my body's along for the ride. Does that resonate?

line 5, at certain junctures, "friends" appear. Maybe those friends are in the form of relaxation, and then sleep. Or things which relax could also be friends. Things that do the opposite, such as stimulation from caffeine, are friends of stimulation, but not of sleeping. So "friends appear" sounds like cause and effect, and choosing the friends of good sleep.

I can now work my lifestyle around when I sleep, and can enjoy the waking time no matter what time it is. But maintaining a regular demanding schedule can be very hard. I empathize.

I do know a couple things which help; a couple of friends if you will. Physical exercise, water, less caffeine, no tobacco, darkness and quietness.

there is nothing that you can do for your insomnia!!!
the insomnia will during for a while.... more than you expect!!...
what you have in mind to do... will bring you more problem!!!

bed position in the house... and it's direction... etc...!!!
I remember I had same problem in the past... but after applying the principle I sleep like a baby :) and all night long!!!

you can go to a doctor.... but this can't give you a smart and fast solution at all (line 4)

Not knowingly or deliberately, but possibly instinctively. However, bedrooms attached to bathrooms limit the practical options.

I'm not a longterm sufferer if insomnia, but do get the occassional restless night. So here is a semi-detached take on your reading.
It seems to me that the best cure for you is to sort out what is going on in your head - there is something deep rooted that is keeping you away from the land of zzzzzzzzzz.
39.2 - Is perhaps saying that you are living one life and dream of another. You doubt you are up to doing something but it's time to face your doubts.
39.4 - Then choose wisely who you share your new visions with. Ponder over the things you really want to do and look at it from all angles before you decide to act.
39.5 - There is help out there, a solution for you to find. It may not come to you immediately or easily but work through the bad times and there will be answer. Turn the bed upside down and then sleep on it..then you will find what you are now missing.

Have you tried melatonin? It's inexpensive, and I am unaware of any physical side effects. When taking melatonin, it's important to take no more than necessary because it can trigger bad dreams. You might start with 1/2 mg to see what you need. I usually take 1 and 1/2 mg by cutting a 3mg tablet in half. Melatonin helps one to fall asleep but not to sleep longer.

pocossin much appreciated. I have a sensitive body and I do not want to take anything new now, I take some herbal remedies now for other problems. I can fall asleep but my sleep is not deep I can hear myself think:zzz::zzz:And I wake up after six hours. I think Mike is really right, it's my head that screws everything up.

Oh, i can relate to that !!!

I used melatonin too, because I couldn't felt asleep but didn't improve the quality of my sleep. What really helped me was doing some pranayana breathing I learned in a yoga class and burning some ylang-ylang oil in the bedroom. Breathing helped me quite my chatty mind. I could hear voices but I wasn't participate at this "discussion" . when i could achive had a very good and resting sleep .

I'll tell you but before try it , better ask someone who knows well about those things.
What my teacher taught me was a 7steps breathing each step last of equal time. At the night I could that laid on bed. Each cycle is as follows

exhale
pause
inhale
pause
exhale
pause
inhale
------------
between the last inhale and the begining of the new cycle there is no pause.

I had to repeat that 7 times.
I was told and i have read that at the begining you need some quidance. Some people get dizzy and even faint , so ask before doing it or learn it ,if interest, from someone who knows.

This worked fairly well to lengthen sleep times, and there were weird dreams, a little confusion or disorientation the next day, I was uncomfortable with. Maybe I'd need to take it over a longer period.

A lot of things work short term, and then stop. Lasting ones seem to require physically doing something about it. Learning to turn it off at will is something I've envied in others. I can't even understand turning consciousness off while mindful. Sleep must overtake me. It works fine for me now, actually to my benefit because I love the early morning hours, but when the next day was demanding, it was push push push til ya drop. Have to be careful, watch blood pressure and such.

Hi Jeannie

I would also suggest that a set ritual of preparing for bed, winding down and going through a routine will help accustom your mind to slowing down and switching off. Cut out coffee or tea in the late evening and repace with camomile tea or similar. If you have a lot on your mind, take time out to write it all down in a list so that it's out of your mind at bed time. All the issues will still be there and ready for you to pick up the next day, should you choose to. You will then after a good nights sleep be better place to decide which ones you want to let fall by the wayside.

Great idea, I tried writing things down, but they do not want to stay on paper:rant:they crawl back into my poor brain again. :bag: SoI ended up with 2 copies :D The worry cycle does not stop. Only if I could learn to stop it, I would be able to build my life the way I want. Or at least sleep well. Lack of sleep makes me weepy, and depressed.

Popping back over to what Patro said, he has a point. Trying to sleep makes resistance/obstruction to sleep. Or anticipating difficulties makes it more difficult. That's what makes it frustrating. Trying to fix it may only make more of an issue, adding to the fight to get to sleep. I used to do that a lot, and still do with the barking dogs issue.
