Hello all

I had a couple of readings lately that I thought generally implied positive results. However it seems they might not always indicate a positive result but just point to some reality.

I asked if I should contact a friend: 41.5 > 61 Decreasing Inner Truth
line 5 “Ten tortoise shells… good fortune”
...the result so far has been an initial reply from my friend but then no response when I have asked to suggest a time to meet (it's been weeks and don't think he will reply)

I also asked if i should post a letter to another friend: 26.6 > 11 Great Taming Flow
line 6 "‘Is this heaven’s highway? Creating success.’
...I have asked several similar questions about sending the letter and very often receive Great/small taming or Great/small exceeding. It also does not feel right to send it.

The individual lines seem to indicate a go ahead although the hexagram pairings are not overly positive: 'decreasing inner truth', and 'great taming a flow'. I don't want to get into the whole positive/negative debate but I guess this affirms that it is never as simple as that.

What do others think about these two lines? Cheers.

Sorry to bang on about this one but I have received another one.

What if i meet up with friend in x country? 53.5 > 52 Gradual progress stilling
Line 5
‘Wild geese gradually progress to the ancestral grave-mounds.
The wife is not pregnant for three years.
In the end, nothing can prevent it. Good fortune.’

The hexagrams together do not sound entirely positive (slowing gradual progress) but the changing line does. What is the best way to interpret such instances? I am still getting to grips with the IC so apologies if that has been discussed elsewhere before.

53.5 suggests that there will be a delay but meeting is more or less inevitable.

52. keep still ... i.e. be patient.

I agree with Apech 7 about 53.5 being more or less inevitable. It's just a matter of time.

With 26.6, it's helpful to notice that it's often in the form of a question. Is this heaven's highway? But, in general, there is a sense of release connected with this line, release from the pressure that was building up with hexagram 26, Major Restraint. Sometimes the form it takes is not exactly "heavenly." Once I got this line and all that happened was that my husband and me got out of the apartment and went shopping -- for socks, I believe. :)

With 41.5, it sounds so very positive. "Very lucky" and "help from above" are some of the positive words connected with this line. But, like you, I have found the thing I was asking for NOT to happen, and so, when it comes right down to it, I distrust the result when getting this line these days. Maybe other people can add their experience here.
