A close relative of mine is homebound with what a doctor diagnosed as colic. However, we think it may be something more serious, since she is an older person. We were worried because she did not eat for a few days, only taking vitamins and liquids.

I asked the oracle, and the lines mimic the person staying at home and not going out at all.
60.3 states it seems her illness is of her own making?

Hex. 48 incidentally states about a well, which brings up a symbolism of the waste system of the body. We suspect it is an intestinal ailment. But I dont understand what it means by the jug breaks?

The hexagram seems to rule out more serious ailments like cancer? So it probably is a minor infection of the waste system. What do you suggest?

thank you.

Which colic are you talking about? Biliary colic/gallstones or renal colic/kidney stones?

Line 60.1 indicates the need to rest and not over exert herself while line 60.3 indicates that if she doesn't rest up and let the medication do its work then the pain will return heavy.

Hex 48 So, if she does as she is told by the doctor then there is nothing here that indicates any serious illness as gallstones and kidney stones are both treatable.

Willowfox, thank you.
we aren't sure what type of colic it is. however, there is nausea, giddyness
and diarrhoea.

we asked if she will get better if she takes ginger juice, and we got 17.2>58.
Do you think it is advisable? She does not want to take it as it is not prescribed by the doctor.
I am not sure what 17.2 refers to by clinging to the small boy. and who are the 'unworthy friends'?

I asked again, if she only takes the medicine prescribed by the doctor, will she get well soon? I got 41.1.2>23.

Again, both hexagrams speak of superiors; am not sure if superiors are the doctors?
She is afraid to take ginger juice because it is an alternative medicine, but apparently she is not getting well on the prescribed meds.

Do the hexagrams support ginger juice or just the prescribed meds?
many thanks again for your help.

Yes it seems she wants to cling to the small boy who is weak and rejecting a chance to get better, the strong man. So, as you say, she doesn't want to try it but it may indeed be beneficial for her.

I asked again, if she only takes the medicine prescribed by the doctor, will she get well soon? I got 41.1.2>23.

Taken at face value, we go from decrease to splitting apart, suggesting that the prescribed medication will work but it could be slow in achieving the desired result.
