Is my father's death-time approaching?

My father is 83 years old, with minor health problems and has a peaceful living.
Lately he saw a dream that made me ask this question and I Ching answered:
Hex 48 2,5 > 15
Hex 15, Integrity or Humility, signifies that things progress smoothly -absolutely true for my father- and that one "avoids brimming over after having gained abundant possessions".
I understand it as: my father will not spend time on earth beyond his "necessary job" requires.
Hex 48, the well, describes the function of the source of water, which is the source of Life itself !
Line 2 : the bucket breaks and leaks, the life-force is draining off him...
Line 5 : is the founding and host line of hex 48, representing the Source of Water:
Could it mean that he is nearing his return to the Ultimate Source of Life?
Time, the next few months, will show..
I promise to let you know whatever the outcome will be...

Hi Windrell,

With time questions, it's very useful to add a time frame to the question.
E.g. "will x happen this month/year" etc.
But you mention at the end of your post "next few months", so I guess that's what you had in mind.

Is my father's death-time approaching?
Hex 48 2,5 > 15

I believe that line 48.2 shows a health problem here.
You say that he only has minor health problems, but this one looks like it really needs attention.
Hidden line 39.5 shows that the problem will most probably be serious and will need lots of help.
48.5 shows that the problem can be corrected.
So as a conclusion, I'd say that no, the time is not approaching.
But a serious health problem (perhaps undetected so far) needs a strong effort to be overcome.

There may be a particular health problem as Diamanda says. But it could also be seen as a simpler image of your father's health - a very matter-of-fact reading.

Line 2: yes, energy is declining as a natural consequence of age and the "minor health problems" you indicated. But in line 5: All is well, energy can still be shared within limits and life is ok. The background hexagram is modesty or "authenticity" as Brad Hatcher terms it. So, he takes it easy, in deference to old age and as part of a natural process or cycle. There's no indication that his death is approaching in a few months however.

All the best.

I think he is not taking good care of himself as line 2 says.
The life force is there, but the bucket should be mended, taken care of.

If he changes his (diet, routine, habits, line 3) his health can get better (line 4) and he will live happily for a long time (line 5).

Hmm. If he's anything like my dad who's approaching 80, then changing anything related to the well is going to be a challenging. Sometimes, letting things be is also a kindness. It depends on his attitude and awareness I suppose.

Windrell, is your dad pretty flexible? Or is he set in his ways like mine? ;)

Dear friends, Diamanda, Asteroid and Topal, thank you so much for paying attention to my question.
All the recent health examinations have shown that my father is very well for his age, his eating habits are fine, he sleeps well, he walks every day etc...
But his recent dream was very disturbing, of course I didn't tell him anything, but I feel that the dream actually was a message for me...
Yes, my question was about the next few months during 2016.
Well, we see...

Topal, my dad is very flexible! He always had an open mind that's why no arthritis in his body, and I think he is ready to leave this world, and I believe he will go peacefully....
All the best for your dad!:)

I dont see any bad sign, like death here. Yup only minor health problems, your dad is fine.
He could have a disease from a long time ago coming back though, but i dont think it's threatening to his life

Dear Windrell,

Even though your father's passing may be years down the road the dream he had could be a nudge to you both to do things you may have been putting off - like writing down the family history.
Also, get someone to take videos of the two of you chatting and walking together. It's nice to have pictures of him but it's really powerful to be able to see yourself and your dad laughing and chatting together. Makes any past misunderstandings seem waay past and the current positive reality the only thing that counts.
You might also ask him how he would like his memorial service to be. My mother and I had a great time planning hers about five years before she died. She said she wanted to "put the fun back in funeral" with a garden party including all her favorite foods and paper hats!
When that day finally came everyone said it was the best funeral they'd ever been to!

UPDATE:
My dad lives and has no major or threatening health problem, his mind and memory is fine, he takes good care of himself, sleeps well, he reads a lot, he has no depression etc, thanks goodness!
BUT....On July 2nd, 2016, four and a half months after my question, his second wife - they had been together for 25 years TRULY HAPPILY- she was brutally killed while swimming in the sea that summer early in the morning......she was alone because she liked to go to the beach very early each morning and she felt no danger.... There were no eye-witnesses....and her wallet was missing...her body was found in the sea far away from the point her towel and her slippers were found... She was 82 years old and in extremely GOOD HEALTH! That week another old lady was killed around that area, and the police is still searching for the criminal, there was evidence he is a young immigrant...
It was a BIG BIG BIG SHOCK for us!!!
My father sold his car after that and he decided not to return to that place again - they had been going for vacation there for the last 6 years...
I don't want to become more emotional here, it is not a psychotherapy group...
Regarding I Ching, let each one draw ones own conclusions...
Thank you!
P.S. His dream was about his car...that he was forced to abandon it.... And she was actually a driving force for him....

Last update: My dad passed away on January 28th, 2019, from problems with his heart...almost three years since the question was asked...his health radically declined during the last three months of his life...fortunately he didn't suffer greatly...

Sorry to hear that, but it's good that he didn't suffer that much.
Nice to see you back Windrell/Erleanor!
