Hi listener,
Interesting the concept of randomness and dreams. I wish I had the vocabulary to discuss it. As it is I can only mumble that there is indeed something to it, and that we tend to devalue events that are "random" when maybe we should instead be recognizing that there is something to "randomness" that should not be demissed as common or easy, but should be acknowledged as an event that has laws and patterns all its own, laws we mere mortals can't grasp, but when we connect with it we are changed. There is something healing about randomness. Looking at a

softly flowing golden stream of piss and seeing the inner workings of the Tao, or seeing yourself in a hexagram composed of six broken and unbroken lines takes practice, but it's well worth the effort. The imagery of dreams and the imagery of the Yi have a logic all their own; a logic different from and parallel to the logic of the waking world. And to understand their logic, you need to familiarize yourself with that dreamy parallel world. The Dreamtime world is no less real than this one, but merely a parallel universe where different rules of logic apply. Think of a

taxi you climb into is yellow, bright yellow, and you say to the driver: "Take me to 5th and Main, the girl I'm going to love and who is going to love me will be standing on that corner."

"Sure, pal," the driver says, but then he makes a left down 3rd and goes past

straight into the red light district. You say to the taxi driver, "Hey man, the girl of my dreams is on 5th and Main! Don't you know your way around this city?" You hear maniacal laughter coming from the front seat as he pulls to the side of the road. Fearing for your life, you promptly get out of the taxi and notice that the prostitute on this street corner looks suspiciously like your ex-girlfriend. The taxi drives away at top speed and you

it's only a dream, so you decide to approach the prostitute and ask for direction. "there must be some way outta here!" you plead, staring straight into her kaleidoscope eyes.
"NOt so fast" she says, "as long as you've come this far, I might as well tell you

laptop. While I peer at the blue and yellow screen and struggle to make out the dark little logo, she slips something cold into my hand. It is a golden key, and a plane ticket to a distant place - but when I look up, she has disappeared into the crowd. The teeth of the key remind me of a certain symbol, an I Ching hexagram I once saw called

{by the by, I take no responibility for this bizarre bit of performance art. I was writing a perfectly rationable thought about randomness when the phone rang. Not wishing to lose my half-finished piece I posted it mid-sentance, thinking I would be a good citizen and come back and complete it later. When I came back I discovered it had wandered off with some one else! Is it just coincidence that we are on 25.3 over on the Memorization thread..

"Nope and neither!" cried the Spirit of the I Ching from deep with in the black limo, "I'm just being silly!"

(With thanks and a nod to andrea over on the Silly thread.)

You feel someone or something licking your face and suddenly the world looks very bright and you feel woozy. It takes a little while for your mind to adjust to what's happening, but then you realize that the man in the black limo has just knocked you over the head with a tire-iron.

And then you wake up.

AAAAAAHHHOOW!

Someone pinches your bottom and you fall out of bed, pulling the covers with you so that end up in a heap on the floor. Slowly getting to your feet you realise you are wearing a rather chinzty pink, satin nightie. A pair of matching fluffy slippers lie close by and you wonder if they were part of a combo.

Directly ahead, lying sprawled on the bed is someone familiar. Suddenly, recognition seizes you. Shaking your head in disbelief you back away. As you do so, you realise you are holding the I Ching (Wilhelm edition) in your left hand and a pair of massive Y-fronts in your right. You are reasonably sure they are not yours.

"The coins are right here snooky-poops" comes the same gravelly voice, "Come and get them."

In an instant you know exactly what you have to do...

So, clutching Wilhelm in one hand and your clothes in the other, you dash for the door at the end of the long room. The pale man covered with coarse black hair leaps from the rumpled bed. You reach for the door knob. Locked. Then you remember the golden key hanging loosely around your neck on its blue and yellow ribbon. The man is running toward you. You look at the key. It’s no longer the shape of hexagram 56 – this time it looks like 24. The key fits the lock! You hear a deep animal growl behind you as you slip out and slam the door shut. Then you turn -- and look in utter amazement at what’s stretched out in front of you. Eyes wide with disbelief, you look straight into
