Greetings friends,

I recently did a reading that is not sitting well in my gut. My business involvement is starting to go somewhere with all of my hard work. The universe is introducing the "right" people into my life. I did my due-dilligence in regards to potentially hiring a new software architect. EVERYTHING in my gut tells me that I should hire him. i think Yi gave me a very different answer. What's confusing about the answer is, it sounds as if the answer is geared more for the guy I'm thinking of hiring. Can that be? Please see below:

"What do you think about hiring Mr. Smith"

answer:

Hex# 8 6@3 changing into Hex# 39

What do you guys think?

mirror saw:rolleyes:

You're right. On the surface it looks like an inherent incompatibility, maybe something running too deep to be noticed right away. We've all been fooled by our gut and our feelings. Heck, some of us have even married the wrong person. If this guy IS a good fit for the job, I'd be harder pressed to say what 08.3>39 means. The Fan Yao is a 180 degree turnaround after reaching an impasse. I suppose it's possible the Yi could still be depicting Him backing out. But I wouldn't change your question to fit the response - you were good enough to be specific with it. Stick around and let us know how this one turned out.

"What do you think about hiring Mr. Smith" answer:Hex# 8 6@3 changing into Hex# 39"

Hex 8.3 says this is the wrong guy for the job, it suggests that you hold off until you find the right guy later on.

Hex 39 obstruction, an obstacle that needs to be removed.

There is no good/bad other than that given in intepretations/labels. Willowfox is a perfect example of fundamentalist, literal-minded, Wilhelm imprisoned, magical thinking, interpreter.

First note that hexagram 39 is NOT fundamentally negative, even if Wilhelm et all interpret it as such - positive/negative paintings come from intepreters, not the general universal form.

39 as such reflects (a) standing up against the flow and so being an obsticle, and (b) bypassing obsticles (and so getting around those standing up!) These action can be negative or positive, depends on the LOCAL context.

8 covers passive attraction that can be positive (a true leader) or negative (a cult). Overall it covers the court/ruler position of a hexagram (line 5) and so can be carrot focused or stick focused.

So -- rather than limit yourself to trying random/miraculous methods only, try emotional methods where the 'situation' is the person and ask your emotions how they describe such - they are more often very good in their general assessment:

Being one of those magical-thinking types, I wouldn't be in a hurry to hire Mr Smith after 8.3 . What I might do, if my gut were really protesting, is try to ask more questions to work out what the problem is - maybe what it'd be like to work with him.

A question that arises sometimes with Hexagram 8 is - why did you ask the question? Especially if research and gut instinct really were unanimously in favour... there must have been some small reason why you weren't quite sure. Perhaps if you can find your way to that, this'll start to make more sense?

Thanks all,

I asked this questions because Mr. Smith is one of 3 people in the world who determines where the particular software app that my compnay uses goes! He is a very powerful guy in our industry. I asked the question because I'm afraid that he may not deliver for my company. Hiring him is going to put an economic strain on my company initially, but, on one hand is a wise investment for future gains because of his skill set. It's a big risk on my part bringing him aboard.
