Is there a way to search a thread?

I think I remember in vBulletin there was a "search thread" gizmo at the tops of threads, which I don't see here. Is there another way to do it that I'm overlooking?

All of that is wrong, never mind. :paperbag: What I'm remembering is the "search forum" gizmo, and yes, there's another way to do that, the forum search page.

No, there was a 'search thread' in vBulletin. It came in useful for multi-page threads where Ctrl+F won't help you. It seems to be missing in XF unless I buy us the 'Enhanced Search' add-on, in which case it appears as an option under 'search' when you're viewing a thread - but I've used that at the XenForo site without falling in love with it. (I keep on trying to search a single forum and ending up searching the whole community by mistake.) I think/hope we'll survive without it.

So I was either more, or less, confused than I thought I was 😵 lol...

(Any news on the pagination front? Although from what you just said I'm becoming quite torn on that subject. I'd like ctrl-f to help me! On the other hand I'm now stubbornly enraged at the thought that they've removed so many helpful features from the basic software that you're painted into the corner of having to buy an add-on for either Ctrl-f functionality or a "search thread" feature.)

Ah - pagination settings I think are available as a much simpler add-on that doesn't add unwanted complications. Where did I see that...? ah yes:
Shall I get us that one?

You're ignoring my stubborn rage and torn-ed-ness? (Have applied dollop of salve.)

Not so much ignoring as sympathising silently. (Which, admittedly, is wholly indistinguishable from ignoring on a forum. Does the knowledge that this is a 3rd-party add-on contribute a healing balm?)
