There have been disturbing news on my work environment: too many people losing their jobs and mine might be next. Just today we were are given the chance to choose a change of level and possibly keep the job OR not do so and possibly have to go thru a whole lot of changes, including moving to a new place, or even eventually losing the job altogether. I did a couple of readings trying to gauge the possibilities

1) what kind of future will I have going with the change of level? 7.6 to 4
Pretty objective description, I'll be moving from teaching teenagers to teachings elementary school kids - setting their foundations in my class. elementary is not my thing though and it would take a lot of hard work to get into it

2) what kind of future if I stay with where I'm now? 18.2,4,6 to 62
Ugh, this sucks and I can't really read this straight cause 18 smells bad and there's corruption there and I'm somewhere stuck between a rock and a hard place (62)? 18.6 I eventually move away from bosses and masters, I'm laid off? Somewhere deep inside a part of me wishes to start a ceramics business but I'm not naive- things are really tough out there; can I make it?

3) What would be the best for me long term? 13.4,5 to 22
No comments on this one: climb a wall cannot attack? Not many ideas here

got any to share??
thanks!

Hi Dora,

1. looks like a new position, starting again from the bottom.

2. yeah, yuck was my first reaction. Though if one is at a stage of aspiring toward more inner work and goals, finding more in less is also becoming wealthy in your chosen profession. But if you're in the prime of life for career development, yuck.

3. go mix with others, and let your true light shine.

hey Bruce,

yup, there's a 'yuck' feeling with lines like 18.2 and 4 . . 62 begins to show itself as the moment of great transitions that it is, but one where we need to be mindful of complications at all times . .

I'm taking your 13 comment at heart ;) - been in contact with friends and colleagues, trying to understand what is going on and what would be best . . also been hearing about people showing their true colors under such psychological duress and uncertainty - crises definitely make for interesting times!

Dear rodaki,

Just a few comments on your reading. I don't think that Hex 18 is always as bad as it looks. Sometimes it is just about adjusting and/or correcting things that need doing so. In your case, it means adjusting your position to a new situation (yes, your environment has deteriorated, things have changed and not for the better). And lines are advising you on how to proceed, as line 2 is saying don't be too drastic as things will not be fine again that quickly and line 4 is saying that you cannot just sit and wait hoping for the best.

But I have to say that I have always loved 13.4.5 :D There is no battle, difficulties help people to get a better understanding of the situation, and regardless of ups and downs, one step forward two steps back sort of thing, in the end there is cooperation and friendship. Lovely :D

I'm typically optimistic about receiving 18, and more concerned about the decaying of 12. I just don't find its combining with 62 as a particularly stimulating career development, unless simplifying or downsizing ones life is desirable, which for some it is. Funny, only an hour ago I was reading a thread on another forum, talking about those who feel burdened by all they've accumulated in life, and have a powerful need to minimalism, to become free from their possessions which control their lives. There is that legitimate aspect. But I don't have the impression that's where Dora is during this part of her life. I like the saying, to condense something you must first let it fully expand.

But it can also be interpreted as improving upon the smallness of her position, income status. But that's a pretty esoteric take, I think.

7.6 , in a local level , makes a good description of the plan government has , as friends facing the same dilemma have told me. Mind you I don't know how immersed are in unions etc and how the exaggerate, but what I know is those willing to fill the empty places where there is a need, will get a job (the faithful vassals) , those not willing .. well there is a long queue.

18>62 Stay low under the radar till things improve and 13>22 Keep the bonds with the clan alive.

I'm away from home and only have a short while more on this computer so I'll make it short . .

thanks for your thoughts, for starters (Maria happy name-day!)

Mirian - pheew . . how I wish I could see the brighter side of 18, the thing is though, I'm worried that it actually shows some very real corruption that goes on (and have been going on) behind the scenes for a long time now - rectifying it is part of a bigger story that, unfortunately, I"m only a very small part of . . 13 is still going strong though . . when the going gets tough and 22 springs like a hearty refuge, camaraderie really breathes new air where things seemed stale! :)

Maria I"m not so sure how you came up with the bit of the 'faithful vassals' - can't find it anywhere in that line, in any translation/commentary I use . . Again, I understand where you are coming from by seeing it as a matter of 'going where there are needs' yet that leaves a lot of other stuff going on in the dark: like the fact that there are needs where we are now but they want to fill them with their 'own people' who so far have been lounging in various dubious ministry 'work placements', or, like their shrinking down of schools and treating them as if their are corporations, with minimum interest of what is actually best in educational value and practice, or like the fact that teaching elementary kids requires a whole new and unique set of skills for which we have not be trained (and won't ever be according to the plan as it is laid out). Or, like the fact that they are turning schools into mere baby-sitting areas, making changes with no planning or strategy, other than their own warped and tangled logistics . .

The list could go on (I'm sorry to say) . . what really rings a bell for me in 7.6 is about knowing where your assets will be put to the best use and entering into such a fragile and demanding environment as a classroom of 2nd or 3rd graders with no prior preparation or training about what this environment needs to make it work and actually be good in your job (rather than just pass time) is rather irresponsible ..
Of course (and that's the bad news) no one making the kind of logistic decisions that are in action now, ever really thought of all the above

If push comes to shove, of course people will migrate to whatever position's available but unfortunately this doesn't always make for good planning strategies or for good education .. :(

(you hit a sensitive spot with your comment obviously :p - I hope you won't take the above personally, I just took the opportunity to say it all cause I think it's good that people on the outside get to see a more rounded view of what is happening in education for the past 2 years)

take care you all!
(I'll be away from my computer for the coming days - will be able to read your comments but not post, so be my guests if you have thoughts to share here!)

Check this here , just in case you find something useful . http://www.akirarabelais.com/i/i.html#7
The war has ended successfully, victory is won, and the king divided estates and fiefs among hisfaithful vassals. But it is important that inferior people should not come into power. If they have helped, let them be paid off with money, but they should not be awarded lands or the privileges of rulers, lest power be abused.
I agree with the importance of a good plan re education. the problem is not 2 years old just now money is not enough to support it. According to my teacher friends small schools , that are too expensive to finance are going to close. What happens to your sector is what happens everywhere... unfortunately. Just some sectors faced it earlier some later. Things will get tougher.

Dear rodaki,

I was just looking again at the two top lines of your reading. Of course I agree with others that if this change of level represents a step backwards in your career no-one wants this at all. Besides, having been an elementary school teacher myself as my first job in life I know what that means ;) plus the issue regarding bad decisions by those who are responsible for education.

Having said that, when I look at 7.6 it doesn't fit into this scenario (based on my personal experience). So, it makes me wonder if you make this choice the outcome that you envisage is the only one possible.
As for 18.6 it doesn't show you getting involved in the politics and whatever is going on there that you would be forced to if you stayed where you are. So, I cannot see you staying.

Anyway, just some ideas that I wanted to share :bows:

7.6 > 4

The casting suggests that if you go into elementary education, you will keep your job. Apparently in the Greek educational system, such a move is considered a demotion. This is a mistake. As the twig is bent so the tree grows. Perhaps I am biased because I enjoy playing with children, and at a young level, play and education are the same. I think it is absurd how children are retarded by being denied access to fundamental ideas. Even in preschool they should be introduced to Copernican theory -- that the sun appears to rise because the earth is turning toward it -- and basic physics. Last time I and my nephew's three year old son played with blocks, we built a facility for pigs. (We are country people.) Next time I am going to introduce him to the six simple machines. In my opinion you would excel in teaching children how to attend to the aesthetic features of experience.

Nope, no thought of demotion here Tom - change of level referred to the elementary/high school levels, my place in hierarchy terms would be the same in both. Bruce mentioned something about one option being less than desirable but that had no notion of a demotion either.

I already explained the reasons I would rather not teach elementary, I don't wish to get into that again. I know for sure that being in touch with the younger ones is very rewarding but teaching a foreign language to a class of 25 is a completely different ball-game to playing with a couple of them - no way to draw conclusions for the one by way of the other ;)

In the meantime, 18 to 62 starts taking shape as a very skewed set of information that's been provided to us and the bureaus involved as to the terms that apply in said application and what circumstances exactly stand; a very shady/muddy way of operating where noone knows exactly the conditions (not even those who will supposedly process them). 62: Devil's definitely in the details as far as all this is concerned!

As things are uncertain either way and there's very little in terms of making any intelligent choice or guess at the present (what with so much skewed information going around about this whole changing process - I'm not giving you the details cause they are simply too maze-like), I thought I'd just try and take a stab (with a little help from friend Yi) at the final outcome. So today I asked:

What's gonna be the outcome for me after all this chaos settles?

and received hx 50.3.6 to hx. 40

I think Yi is mainly consoling me (pat-in-the-back by ol' Yi) here . . 50.6 is simply a mystery to me in the mundane, everyday world - do I hear it whispering 'you can be fine&dandy wherever you find yourself'??

ah, Yi!

any thoughts welcomed as always

Hi Rodaki.... Let me start by saying how helpful so many of your threads have been for me, so thank you ! I received 7.6>4 when I was doing door to door sales. I wanted to move up to closer from appointment setter, and I asked what to expect regarding this situation.. As an appointment setter, I was only paid for appointments that closed, and was contracted as an outside worker. No training, no gradual move up. So, I think this was the IC's way of saying I would stay an appointment setter unless I developed the skills to get the job done. So I would already have to know how to do the job to move into it. Not an opportunity to learn on the job. I think 13.4.5 to 22 suggests the awkward disharmony in your current position, suggested by 18 to 62, will pass. Hope this helps you. I would stay where I was though if I were you, but I'm certainly no expert with the Yi or life decisions:rofl:

aaaww DWF

thanks for chiming in here and for the supporting words!
Your experience of 7.6 very much aligns with how I'm reading it here too . . a whole new learning experience! I've been thinking about this reading a lot and I really like how it meshes up the roles of teacher (hx7) and student (hx4), master and tenderfoot!

btw, 'tenderfoot' is a new word for me . . I was thinking about it today as a key word for hx4 cause I was reading a website about the various puns and symbolic meanings of many chinese words . . Lise gives 'pig-cover' for hx4 and the site says about 'pig':

An old Chinese custom was to have young male children wear hats and shoes in the shape of a pig. Chinese parents believed this would avoid misfortune since the evil spirits would be fooled into thinking the child was actually a pig.
http://primaltrek.com/impliedmeaning.html

. . so now I'm adding the image of wearing little pig hats and shoes as protection in my mental HX.4 folder. This has actually shed a new light on the hexagram for me - plus it makes for a rather cute/funny visual :D

thanx again for the feedback & take care!

It's been couple of years I know, but it would be good to know how this turned out. I just drew 18.2.4.6 (not for the first time ever, but still, there aren't many examples on the forum of this combination).

Hope all was well in the end!
