I graduated from college a few months ago and moved back in with my parents after some deliberation. The goal was to save money on rent and establish the "next move" while being with my family. I figured to get a regular-ol'-job while living with them and save up some money from that.

However, I am just now getting a call-back, for a job I applied for and followed up on over a month ago.. It may be beside the point, but I seem to have found a sort of "comfortable rut" in the atmosphere of being at home again. I have done a few odd jobs here and there for money and and have not had to pay for rent/food/etc., so this summer has not been very productive...at least not tangibly. I have not been as diligent as I can be in seeking employment. Anyway, my message concerns the job interview tomorrow

At the time of applying for this, I asked : Please give any advice for a job at Whole Foods. receiving Hexagram 32.4. It felt accurate: i saw the job as just a job, nothing more or less. And also, perhaps it was not the right time to be trying to get one there? (the call-back came over a month later..)

With that reading in mind, I followed with: What if I do get the job at Whole Foods?" I received Hexagram 62.4.6. A rather ominous reading I thought...maybe because I was looking at it as something just to do, and not as something to do with my heart. In any case, I dropped trying to follow up on it.

Yesterday, feeling increased pressure from both myself, my parents, and my friends to really "get my s***" together (pardon the bluntness), I asked: How can I turn over a new leaf now? = Hexagram 9.1.6. The part about this that really gets me is, the interview is for tomorrow, the date of the Full Moon (as said in line 6). I know the Yi is not always so literal, but, this feels like it could mean something.....especially because I do not have strong feelings for this potential job. However, I am thinking it is still some sort of good fortune to have the opportunity, and I should just go with it and not "persist" in trying to seek other opportunities at this time.

Really, this whole thing may seem a little ridiculous (some may say, hey, just DO something with your life, already!!) but I have found this weird post-college, staying-with-my-family, jobless time to be very introspective, and it is not always so easy to "find your place" right off the bat. Ideally I want to study alternative medicine, probably massage therapy, but this is still in a very young phase and I have not been so open about it yet, and I think I need to be.

What are your thoughts on these readings? Thank you for your time and attention.

How can I turn over a new leaf now?

The heavenly signs are auspicious. "Sept. 22, 2010: For the first time in almost 20 years, northern autumn is beginning on the night of a full Moon. The coincidence sets the stage for a "Super Harvest Moon". . ." The Moon is followed by Jupiter, and Venus is especially bright. Leaves are turning. I think you should accept the dignity of employment, if offered. The income will give you the opportunity to pursue other interests eventually.

I think of 9 as the favoring power of ancestral influence. Is there something in your family history leading you to this job? Line 1 is the place of starting out. You are returning from academic to normal life. Line 6 is the place of radical change. You will be changing from dependence to independence. Your eventual job will be your Well (48).

Good luck with your interview. New college graduates are not finding full-time employment easy.

Working Towards a Crop

H9 is the hexagram of Small Accumulation. When a farmer wants a crop, he has to till the ground, plant the seeds and water and weed...no crops for a long time, but all the small efforts are necessary for the crop to come.

In Line 1, you have recognized the situation, and in Line 6, you reap the results of the previous efforts. You need to go through the full cycle of Small Accumulation. So start making the small changes necessary to get what you want. A field full of corn can't be forced out of the ground by any one single effort.

You'll need to be consistent about really being willing to go out to work for a living.

Nothing wrong with going on job interviews just for the practice.

Since Yi has given you 32.4 -- since you already know this -- you might choose to focus on what you're really suited to do in this world --

Good luck
