I asked the I Ching to comment on me apply for a job that I saw. I got hexagram 5, stressed lines 3 and 4, changing it into hexagram 58. Any ideas on what this is saying?

Cassuis,

In the main hexagram 5 is a counsel to patience. Lines three and four seem to suggest the consequences should you decide to press forward with pursuing the job. If I had drawn this I would definitely hold back. Either it is untimely to apply for this position or another job waits in the wings if you are patient.

The derived hexagram seems to suggest that the upshot of holding back here is joy. Maybe a better or happier opportunity.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hex 5.3,4 are very negative and suggest that you do not apply for this job.

Hex 58 this indicates that you should not run after this job as it will not be any good but to listen to others who know of a far better job that is coming up soon.

I see this answer totally differently - the danger lies in the waiting not in going after the job. If you wait you get bogged down by fears and worries . I would apply for the job soon if i had this answer, not hang around deliberating over it. 58 as the relating hexagram encourages open communication - don't close down communication lines open them up - move forward with this.
