I asked the Yi 'Will I have a life partner' & received 13 unchanging. This seems like a positive response -- Lisa's interpretation begins 'Union of people in the open country', and discusses recognizing those that are like us. So far so good...

I then asked 'what do I need to develop within myself to be ready for a life partner' and received 52.2.6>32. This speaks to me of (2) being satisfied with where I am in life & (6) being cautious & present in new situations & social environments. 32 I understand is continuing as I am going. Is this interpretation stating that I am on the right track & to carry on as usual, or is it saying that if I continue as I am going I will remain more or less unattached, at least in terms of a life partner??

As the lines suggests you need to be friendly, accommodating, sincere and very careful and considerate of others. Never take anyone for granted, otherwise you will end up losing them.

Life Partner

A life partner can't be found on the street, or at least not reliably. Yes, you may find money on the street, but you can't count on it. It is the same with a life partner. So you need to put yourself places where you can find someone. Put yourself in a social group where you stand the best chance of finding what you want. That is what Yi means,in Hexagram 13, to "find those that are like us." Is that in church, in AA, in a computer club? That is for you to figure out.

I then asked 'what do I need to develop within myself to be ready for a life partner' and received 52.2.6>32
H52 is about keeping still, as in Meditation. It means stilling the thoughts and the emotions and not letting them run away with you. In particular, Line 2 indicates that you let thoughts and emotions get out of hand. This is the primary work you must do to be ready.

When you shave stilled your thoughts, you will then be ready to be among others, in whatever group you choose, while you pursue your life partner. But you must have emotional stability to succeed.

Deepest thanks for your responses Willowfox & Tigerintheboat. I have had a habit of being offhand and even flippant in dating situations which has made for good stories but doesn't leave much room for deeper emotions, trust & secure attachment to develop. This was very good advice indeed.

In terms of emotions, I have had a history of being either detached or on the intense side...

I asked the Yi, 'rate my emotional stability' and received 1 unchanging. In this case I'm interpreting 1 as advising very focussed attention as there is so much potentially overbearing, out of control energy charging through. I also see it as perhaps a suggestion to channel this energy into a creative pursuit.
