From the other thread -
Login, however, is supposed to co-operate nicely. If it's unhelpful on any sort of regular basis, then yes, please, I would like to know

Here's one thing that happens. It's not the only thing. For instance I never got the big login box that's in the middle of the screen, and I have at times.

I repeated the steps twice, and then cleared cache / deleted cookies (onlineclarity.co.uk, amember.com, xenforo.com) - the only difference was the blue bar at the top asking me to accept cookies. It didn't help otherwise.
  • start by making sure I'm logged out
  • go to the home page, "www.onlineclarity.co.uk"
  • click "Log in" in the upper right-hand corner; enter username and password; click "Login" button
  • the upper right-hand corner still says "Log in"
  • try to access Reading Circle anyway (using the menu)
  • can access Reading Circle just fine. Upper r-h corner now says "Change Circle | " etc.
  • click on the "Shop" heading in the menu
  • the upper r-h corner now says "Log in" again
  • figure the upper r-h corner might be mistaken again
  • scroll down and click the "Yijing Foundations Course" heading
  • upper r-h corner still says "Log in"; keep wondering if it's wrong
  • scroll to the bottom, click on "Access the Course" (the graphics down there are stunning, by the way. Shaded orbs? ) (all your graphics are stunning, of course, it's just I don't think I'd seen those before.)
  • get this surreal screen:

Sorry about all this. It's profoundly odd.

There are actually 3 parts to the site:
  1. Main site, including home page, blog, shop and readings.
  2. Community.
  3. Site with courses on, including Foundations, and the Library page. (Can you get to the Library?)
So we have two mysteries:
  1. Why, when you are logged in (and we know you are, because you have RC access) does the main site say you aren't? and
  2. What the merry dickens is going on with the Foundations Course?
I need to retrace your steps...
  • click on the "Shop" heading in the menu
  • the upper r-h corner now says "Log in" again
  • figure the upper r-h corner might be mistaken again
  • scroll down and click the "Yijing Foundations Course" heading
What page are you on at this point? (url?)
  • upper r-h corner still says "Log in"; keep wondering if it's wrong
  • scroll to the bottom, click on "Access the Course"
And what about now? (Not that it should make any difference where you access the course from, but just in case it does...)

Oh wait, I've understood the second part, sorry. You're on the shop page and trying to buy Foundations, which of course it doesn't let you do since you already own it. That part is fine.

So the only odd thing is the menu not changing in the top right-hand corner when you are logged in. Have just tested, and it appears to work fine, and with the same browser you use. Hm. Do you use any interesting ad/script-blocking browser add-ons? And how does it look if you use Edge?

Oops, should have realized it kindly prevents me from buying something twice.

(Can you get to the Library?)
Yes. The upper r-h corner CC link never fails, and if I'm logged in but on a page without it, my bookmark still works.

But once I'm in the Library, via link or bookmark, I can't go back to the main page by clicking the site logo. When I hover over it the status bar says https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/c instead of https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk. (added) I can go to your blog from the Library, and the logo works from the blog page.

Also, when I'm logged in but on the main page, the Community menu lists the CC forums, but the Search and Membership columns ask me to join. From what you've said that's probably tied to the other problems.

Adblock Plus, but it's turned off for your domain (I double-checked).

The same.

I'm never shown as logged in on the Shop page (https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/shop/), but here's what happens with other Shop page links:

I'm almost sure this problem's something unique to you (hope you feel special... 💐) so I'll migrate to a private conversation.

It was a caching thing, but on Clarity's end of things, so if you were seeing one lot of weirdness then probably other people were seeing other weirdnesses. I appreciate you pointing them out.

Mm, well, it so happens I was sitting here debating whether to say anything... but if you think it might be a canary in a coal mine... today it's not working again. Not in Vivaldi, Edge, or Chrome.

Which pages? (Puzzled because I can't reproduce the issue this time.)

Your blog, the Shop page.
https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/answers/
https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/shop/

Except now it's just your blog. When I click back and forth in the menu between shop and blog, the corner says logged in, not logged in, logged in, not logged in...

Earlier this morning I wasn't logged in either place. Am starting to distrust my own eyes, but pretty sure. But right now, live, it's as I said above.

Now it's the opposite. Blog: logged in. Shop: logged out. :freak:

Well, this seems to have something to do with the caching plugin that makes the website load before we all expire of old age, since you get a different assortment of wibbly pages every time I delete its cache. I have just sent them a support ticket.

Nothing to do with the forums, though, which at least makes a change.

Am having problems conveying the nature of the issue to tech support people. Next time you find an errant page showing you as logged out when logged in, could you let me know which one it is, so I can make them a nice screencast video to demonstrate? (Blog and shop are both currently behaving nicely.)
