For starters please don't create three threads for the same question.
Next, what exactly your question was?
And writing down the changing lines would be best, like that: 10.4.5 → 41.

If you were asking Yi for a general advice, I would say: Be careful (h10) with your possessions, or you may lose(h41) them by accident.

10.5 → 38 (Setting apart), Richmond:
Treading with care and attention to danger. There may be trouble.

Sorry for your loss ~ let's see if we can find it?

Can you describe how it happened? Did you lose the whole purse, with the money inside, or did the money disappear from the purse?

Try to give details of time and place.

A first pass answer would be: heaven/lake to mountain/lake ~ heaven weakens earth: the money fell from a high place to a low place, and is possibly lying on the floor/ground...

Ashteroid!!! Thank you so much for your reply.I am new member and I started using IChing recently.
My question is how did i lost my money?
I put it in envelope in my bag. I didnt know that was stolen or not.So I asked Iching and the answer is 10.4.5>41.
If i ask something to Iching and got base hexagrams then it transformed to new hexagram.
At that time, which hexagram do I need to look?
The former or the latter?

10 - 41.png

10 shows a bag with something inside (money, line 3).
and 41 does look like a bag with its top ripped apart, and 41 being the decrease of lower (source, you) for the benefit of the upper (robber) I believe the money was stolen, someone just reached out from the top and lifted the envelope.

10 is called 'Treading Carefully' through some dangerous situation, in your case I suppose it was a crowded place (market/transport).

Yi offers an advice for the future:
10.4 → 61 (Inner Harmony), Richmond:
Great caution is required when treading on the tiger's tail but the outcome (of treading with caution) is fortunate.

If you dare to tread on tiger's tail, be extra careful.

and a warning:
10.5 → 38 (Setting apart), Daniels:
Remain determined, but be aware of the dangers.*

If you are too bold - you may suffer.

If i ask something to Iching and got base hexagrams then it transformed to new hexagram.
At that time, which hexagram do I need to look?
There are no hard rules about this, but the general idea, in my opinion, is that you look at the influence of new hex on a situation described by base hex (sometimes just ignore the lines completely if you prefer).
If there's one line - pay attention to it and the base hex.
The more lines you got the more focus shifts towards the new hex.

Hi Joseph95,

"Has my money been stolen from my purse, or not?"

10.4.5 to 41 ~ "It may have been taken by a young man who wears beat-up shoes, possibly a family member?"

Line 4 ~ a person sneaks ~ nervous and careful not to step on your tail ~ to take some money that they think they deserve ~ and they get it.

Line 5 ~ this person, according to the Yi, is wearing worn-out shoes, and could possibly be angry.

It's very likely that it was taken by someone who knows that you keep it in the purse.

So, the Yi is suggesting that if the money involved isn't a large sum, then you might just want to be watchful ~ you're going to know who this person is, eventually.

On the other hand, if it is a lot of money, then you probably want to proceed with caution...

Good luck!

Thanks again, senior!!! Is there any way to study iching for each line changing? To be honest, I am facing difficulties for iching interpretation and I have only one book translated by Richard Wilhelm. What should I do to get decent Iching interpretation???

Hi Joseph95,

There's probably nothing better you could do than to keep visiting this forum and following the readings.

Wilhelm is the standard western reference book for the i-Ching, and it's still better than most of the so-called 'modern' books. If you do get a second i-Ching, then I highly recommend our headmistress Hilary's i-Ching ~ it's robust, accurate and full of good information for readings.

If you are just starting, then the Yi Foundations course for Change Circle members is perfect.

Your timing couldn't be better, too, because the site is getting a refresh over the weekend...

I hope to see you here often!

all best

Asking what you need to know about a situation is always good, getting the question right is very important, how you ask is a good way to start cannot stress it more, i wish someone told me that when I started,

This website can be very helpful also http://www.yijing.nl/index.html
Richard Wilhelm is a very good place to start , don't overwhelm yourself with too much information.
So refer to that for now as Radiofreewill says, I started there and still use it now as reference.

Also its good to keep records of important readings then you can go back and see the relevance of the outcome in accordance with lines and hex's given. If you want to understand the book of changes better, then like anything good it comes with time and practice.

I am sure people here will have some great ways and advice on how to advance your studies, myself I have learnt through trial and error and self taught thus far. ( although I should get some formal training and expand my horizons) This forum has some very good courses and books to offer.

This forum has helped immensely beyond words to get a better understanding.

Steve
