Hi Everyone I'm new to the I Ching and was hoping for some help in a reading.

Me and a love interest who I dated a couple of times have been estranged for 6 months now even though there was a strong attraction on both sides. Something happened recently where he saw me and I'm just wondering if there is any hope of us starting up again or has he forgotten me completely. I asked the following questions:

What was the hidden motives behind X's actions to want to end it.

HEXAGRAM 18 LINE 6 CHANGES INTO HEXAGRAM 46
(Does this mean that he only saw it as a temporary or casual affair?)

Will X want to start up with me again?

HEXAGRAM 57 LINES 2 AND 3 CHANGES INTO HEXAGRAM 20

Can you please give me a date as to when X is thinking of contacting me if at all?
(I've never asked a specific date and I'm wondering if it works)
HEXAGRAM 59 LINES 3,4 AND 5 CHANGES INTO HEXAGRAM 50

Will X make an effort to meet me halfway and end the impasse between us ?

HEXAGRAM 48 LINES 4 AND 6 CHANGES INTO HEXAGRAM 44

What are X feelings for me at present?

HEXAGRAM 51 LINE 1 CHANGES INTO HEXAGRAM 16

Does anyone see hope of a reconnection between us? I can't call it a reconciliation or reunion as we only dated a couple of times nothing serious only a great beginning with a strong attraction that went all wrong.

Perhaps spending a bit more time with the first question may have helped you here. However as having a relationship with X seems to be so important to you, it's easy to understand how this may have slipped past you..

The hidden motives behind X's actions is that he does not see that the relationship with you would serve his needs. In his mind you are just not Mrs Right.

I would like to add that I was the one who ended it suddenly because I suspected he only wanted something casual from me and I also had a busy work schedule at the time. I noticed the signs and pulled out before getting in too deep with him as I was very smitten with him and didn't want to get hurt. Thanks for your help in advance. I'm wondering now if there is any change from his side concerning me and if he got the message as to what I'm looking for. Loula

you mean if someone does not tell you what is in the mind of X you will delete your account ?

There is no 'objective' answer BTW.

second suggestion - "translate objectively"? What does that mean?

I also think that Jesed was trying to give you some really useful advice about the best way to engage with the Yi, not to imply that you do not know yourself or love yourself. I'd agree, occasionally I fall into the trap of asking questions beginning 'what does x think/feel' but actually there's no real way of knowing what someone else will think or do. I find the Yi is most useful as a tool for helping me understand the dynamics of a situation, my place in it, and the best way for me to proceed or what I need to be aware of. After all the only thing I have control over is my own reactions. So that's all, I admit to doing it myself sometimes, but its never particularly helpful...

Thamk you Mike for your time and very helpful insight on my first question. I'm only interested in questions and answers that have to do about X at this point. This is why I signed up to get help on the hexagrams and what they as related to my questions. I'm too emotionally involved to be objective when doing readings for myself.

Secondly, Willofox would've been a great help for you probably with her style, but she is not here, so take the help you people are offering you, e.g. Mike's post.
Thirdly, since you can't be objective and understandably are quite emotional I took a liberty to ask a question on your behalf:

what is N's strategy towards M?

as I see it basically he is receptive to whatever you decided to do, and probably quite
comfortably so

if I were you i would've asked

Hi ichinglover ok I cast asking the question you advised me to ask and got a pretty positive hexagram.

What will X do if I sent him an email?
HEXAGRAM 17 LINE 1 CHANGES INTO HEXAGRAM 45

Quote from the I Ching made easy for H17 line 1:
You suffer a misfortune from which you recover. Setbacks spurs you into activity. Ultimately it works in your favour.

I guess H45 means we will meet at a grove of trees, a sacred place (we used to meet at a sacred place by the beaches area) or process of recovery after illness (recovery of our unhealthy relationship).

John Blofeld (the bible of I Ching for me) says for H17 line 1:
Those in power (my BF in my case) undergo a change of heart and follow what is right and righteous determination brings good fortune. I shall not fail to see tangible results.

H45 Gather together/meet. It is advisable to see the great man (my BF) which will ensure success. My persistence in a righteous course brings reward.

Ok so that's my contribution everyone. Now if my BF gives me attitude and deletes my email the I Ching is getting chucked out the window and right into the recycling bin below my condo

Oh I forgot to mention I did ask What can I do to remedy the situation with N?

Hexagram 55 line 4 changes into Hexagram 36
Cut off from each other and in dark. Confusion and lies. We do not see each other because of this. When he understands the confusion he'll be able to see the light. Dim awareness? Meet my lord of like nature (so true!) Good fortune for taking action. (This is why I sent him an email). Make him understand he is not being rejected or persecuted? Or I will make a breakthrough and understand why he is persecuting me?

H36 I didn't understand does it mean to explain to him I did not reject him or mean to insult his intelligence by rejecting him? Are we both in the same situation where we both feel rejected? Huang quotes - During the time of darkness seeking a positive companion and taking productive action will bring good fortune. I should be the light for in darkness and persevere in adversity? Or should I forget him and look for a new love interest someone more positive?

I don't understand this is where i get confused in combining primary hexagram with the relating hexagram to get a clear picture. Cheers Loula

Here's one take on your reading, through my filters:

55.4 -Sit back and look at things calmly - put your wise man head on. Work with yourself to understand the wider picture of what is going on for you. Then when you have truely seen how you can best remedy the situation choose as bravely as you can and take the appropriate actions upon yourself to put the changes in place. How positive are some of the choices you are making right now?

It might be worth coming at it from a different angle, there's sometimes a sense with Hex 36 of shooting oneself in the foot. Recognise that it may not be N that you are cut off and in the dark about.

Ok Mike I'm going to process what you told me. None of the choices I'm making right now are positive but I have no other alternative where this guy is concerned. I know I've gone as far as I can go and there is nothing more I can do but I just can't accept it. I'm just kicking a dead horse in the mouth (a dead affair)- it's futile to even try.
