I am for once totally baffled by my i ching hexagram....and in desperate need of assistance in reading it.

So i met this amazing guy this last spring out in lake tahoe. i live in chicago and he lives in new hampshire. so far its worked out really well. but its been two months since either of us have been able to put our lives on hold and fly to see one another. i recently graduated school and took a job with a physician. i absolutely hate my job and my employer. i work my butt off for almost NO pay what so ever. most days i end up coming home extreamly irritated or depressed. There are tons of jobs out there and i've been posting my resume several times a day, but so far have not recieved any call backs. i have enough money saved up so that i could potentially be unemployed for two months and still be fine. besides, there are TONS of temp. jobs in the city that i could work until i land something solid.

but i digress. here is my problem. i asked for some time off from work so i could go visit my boyfriend out in new hampshire. my boss told me that i couldn't have the time off. then proceeded to tell me that i wasn't going to have any vacation time for the next year. WHAT?! i just started this job! i haven't taken any time off yet! this just about did it for me. i really wanted to quit right then and there. but i've never quit a job in my life. why would i start to now? the fact that i'm so miserable does make it a bit easier to consider.

so i threw the i ching asking if it would benifit/advisable/in my best intrest to throw caution to the wind, quit my job and go visit my boyfriend whom i'm quickly falling in love with. it gave me hexagram 56 that changed into hexagram 14.

i've never dealt with "the wander" before and seem to be floundering for the correct interpretation. i think i'm really just struggling to seperate my heart and my mind.

Quick help: You asked two questions in one. I would divide them into something like:

1.) Would it be benficial for me to quit the job? (mind question)
2.) What is the dao of my relationship to X? (heart question)

Hex 56.1,2 > 14

Hex 56.1 says not to demean yourself for the sake of a job, otherwise this boss will have you in slavery and make a complete fool of you, call it a day and move on.

Hex 56.2 says that you will find another job and that you have a good boyfriend, so go visit him.

Hex 14 says that when you quit your current job, you will find another, your general situation will improve and you will feel a lot happier.

so i took soshin's advice and split the two questions and these are the hexagrams i came up with...
1) would it benefit me to quit my job? (the mind question)
i came up with hexagram 1 changing into hexagram 43.

2) what is the nature of my relationship? (the heart question)
i've asked this question before and it gave me hexagram 17 - following (with no moving lines i might add)

This is great learning for me how the Yi works

In essence it tells the same willowfox so beautiful stated.

Only, as the Yi got the chance to elaborate, the detail level is better.

You simply have to quit, and you know it.

1 shows the strength in you, to be up to the task, the sixth line changing would be the "bad doc", the overreaching king. 43 is to throw him out of your life, He kind of sucks. ;) No need to be afraid, you have to make the announcement of your will at his court. Of course: Danger! But this danger leads to the light.

17, as you told me per PM, you already understand, so I do not add to this.

Namaste,

Soshin
