Ever since the release of Mega Man 11, the fan community is very busy with new content and projects. At the beginning of the 2010s, the fan community is relatively silent as Capcom was silent, with only cameos of the titular character and merchandise. Until the original Legacy Collection came out when Capcom made the fan community come back strong, attracted newcomers to be part of the fan community. By the end of 2020, a group of Mega Man commentators and fans worked together to host a Mega Man award show on YouTube where fans can choose the best of everything, with the commentators making the nominations. Battle Network and Star Force had some honorable mentions, but none of them won. The commentators will promise to feature them in their separate categories.
I became part of the fan community back in 2018 when I looked up 100% TAS completion videos on YouTube when Battle Network caught my attention. I remembered I found a Battle Network 3 guidebook from my cousin's car and felt that the ideas were new and saw someone play the game. I joined the Battle Network subreddit and started to post NSFW memes there. I began to see the Battle Network hype in 2019 when I brought Battle Network acrylic standees and an iPhone case. The 20th anniversary of Battle Network will commence next month, but there will be silence initially. Capcom will eventually announce the Battle Network legacy collection, but now it is too early.
