Most Bizarre Reading I've Ever Received 4.3 -> 18, Twice

Background: There is a woman. After a prolonged absence, we reestablished contact. I did break contact with her because I shared my feelings and they were not reciprocated and I felt hurt. Since breaking contact, my life has done a 180. I'm in excellent shape, my confidence is solid, my business is succeeding beyond my wildest expectations. I am finally who I have always wanted to be. She is a nice person and would make a great ally but I don't have those feelings for her anymore. I do take pride in the fact that she simply doesn't intimidate me anymore. Truth be told, and as narcissistic as this might sound, even if I did have the option of dating her, I wouldn't take it. We're simply different people and she doesn't have the kind of drive and ambition I have for life. Nothing wrong with that, it just means she's not my type.

"Tell me about my future interactions with her."
4.3 -> 18

This response concerned me because it seems like Yi is saying I need to exercise caution around her, as if there is some risk of her going over the top because of who I am now. I do find it interesting that the relating hexagram centers around remedy and fixing what has been spoiled (our friendship, I suppose, perhaps my own life).

I moved on to another topic to contemplate but Yi's 4.3 kept bothering me. I asked for clarification.

4.3, again. I've never received a repeated reading. I've never received a reading that seemed to speak so directly to a situation. Is the Yi capable of doing that? Is my own bias clouding my understanding of the reading? What other messages might Yi be trying to tell me with this reading?

Yes, Yi can and will do that.
That is why so many people here have spent years/decades studying it, and why it has been around for 3,000 years.
The amazement you are feeling will not subside, it will just cause you to pay close attention. (because yes, it is mind blowing)

I once asked a question, four 'variations' over six months and got the same answer. (calculate the 'odds.' 4096x4096x4096x4096.)

It says she is a gold digger.
Not necessarily an active intentioned one, could just be one that swoons at wealth. Either way, not useful to court her.

Hexagram 18 could be saying that you are in a situation where you are able to recognize what went wrong before and now having an opportunity to correct it. Before you were smitten by this person and now you have a chance to be around them without getting knocked off center. However, I think you could see hexagram 4.3 as a warning not to be too confident. The female in the I Ching represents the unconscious so be alert that you may find your unconscious drawn to this person if you are around her, even though right now you may feel immune.

Tell me about my future interactions with her.
4.3 > 18

In 4.3 a woman loses her sense of self when confronted with a man of "metal" (strong/dangerous) or "gold/money" (rich). You said you've already decided that you don't want to date her. So I believe the line comments on why this is so. Moss Elk put it very accurately, she's probably a gold digger. Saying that, I also had this line in the past about feeling intimidated (before an appointment with my dentist, a man of metal!). So maybe your answer has an undertone of your roles now being reversed - you used to feel intimidated by her, now she feels intimidated by you (or wants your money). In any case your future interactions with her will play out on this axis. There doesn't seem to be any scope for a more fulfilling relationship with her, unless this element of inequality is corrected (although we can only correct ourselves - if she's a gold digger, I'm afraid that can't be corrected).

Hilary's translation

'Don't take this woman.
She sees a man of bronze, and there is no self.
No direction bears fruit.'

This response concerned me because it seems like Yi is saying I need to exercise caution around her, as if there is some risk of her going over the top because of who I am now. I do find it interesting that the relating hexagram centers around remedy and fixing what has been spoiled (our friendship, I suppose, perhaps my own life).

A 'man of bronze' isn't a living things but an ideal or an image we have of someone or something. As you are asking about a woman it may well refer to her as not really seeing you for who you are but more as a means to an end or even an idealised image, not seeing you for who you are. There is the possibility it might refer to your attitude, that would be the danger of you falling for a picture of her that isn't real either. Either way there appears to be something genuine lacking in the relationship, it's based on appearances so not worth very much...although this did strike me as a 4.3 attitude

We're simply different people and she doesn't have the kind of drive and ambition I have for life. Nothing wrong with that, it just means she's not my type.

...it might suggest you have classified her as a certain kind of person and often when we classify people we make them into a 'man of bronze' , not a real person but an image. So how to take this answer is going to depend on who you are being advised against seeking union with. it's either her herself or possibly an attitude of your own.

I've received the same reading in a row three times more than once, it's not that unusual and yes it does show what is answering is something more than 'just a book'. If you keep on getting 4.3 for all other kinds of questions, which does happen now and then, where whatever one asks one gets the same answer, then you have to take the answer more broadly, looking at your whole life. Themes from one area of life can spill over into another.

Rosada I hope this reply reaches you. I have had the immense privilege to be in class with you, a gift for which I am exceedingly grateful. It is here though, in the forum I have been accessing since 2014 where your responses (to other visitors’ questions) that have guided my soul, heart most favorably. Your responses always pierce my veil of ignorance to reveal a precise reminder how to be with, live with my recurring conundrum. You are Divine Providence by your gift of Wisdom. Thank you.
