Sometime ago, I threw the dice and asked, “What does the year (2016) has in store for me?” I received H39.3.5 which leads to C2.

With regard to the changing lines, I read that there are a number of ways to read them but I don’t know which one is right:

(a) If there are 2 changing lines, consider the text of both moving lines and give the upper line more weight in the evaluation than the lower of the original hexagram;

OR

(b) If there are 2 moving lines – one Yin and one Yang – consult only the Yin moving line; and if the 2 changing lines are either both Yin or both Yang, consult the lower one.

From the above instructions, which is correct?

Confused

Neither. These are arbitrary 'rules' and rather pointless ones IMO. I mean if you have received 2 moving lines then 2 moving lines is what Yi gave you and if you were meant to only read one moving line you would have gotten only one moving line. So you read both and consider them both as part of your answer.

It is like me asking someone 'what is the weather like today ?' and they answer 'it is sunny but there are showers now and then'. So in one answer they have told me two things. Do I insist they give weight to one part of the answer more than the other ? Do I have to insist they only tell me it's sunny and don't mention the showers OR mention the showers while downplaying the sun ? And what of the rainbow this combination makes ? If I force them to say either

a) sunny
or
b) showers

I will get no inkling of the possibility of a rainbow. Moreover I will either go out with no umbrella or go out with no sunglasses. If I was willing to hear the full sentence they gave me 'it is sunny but there are showers now and then' I can prepare myself properly and enjoy the benefits of the combination.

39.3.5>2 looks like you could lean on others a bit more. You are struggling and need to allow others to help you and also need to be willing to be guided (2). 39.3 shows the difficulties of trying to tackle problems and 39.5 shows help arriving.
