Moving to a different country to pursue work, art & love

I am currently studying theatre and will be graduating in the spring, so, I am trying to create a plan guiding my next steps within my work. I am currently living in Canada and seriously considering moving to the UK in order to learn more about myself within the work and personally.

I have always loved the idea of moving there, however it's a big move that will cost quite a bit of money. I have enough money saved up to make the move but I am worried that it will deplete all of my savings.

Another reason I am considering the move is because I have strong feelings about a man that lives there. We're both Canadian but he is living there currently and will be for the next 3 years. I truly believe that I'm in love with him but that's another story in itself. I'm confused about the next step to take because I don't want to completely base moving to UK on having a shot at being with/or closer to somebody I'm not sure at all would even want to be with me. (He's busy, and a professional music producer so lots of instability.)

Alternatively, I could stay in Canada and pursue theatre here while working but I do believe there is a lot to be gained from travelling. I think that it's possible we might end up living in the same city in Canada in a few years down the line. Maybe it's worth doing my own thing and waiting it out with R to see if it's possible in the future but focus on my career presently? I'm at a loss.

My question was "what would moving to the UK bring for me?" My reading was 54 changing to 16. I'm not sure how to interpret this and any outside insight would be appreciated :hugs:

Hi Chloemc,

"What would moving to the UK bring for me?"

54.1.2 to 16 ~ It would be hard to think of a better toss than that one for someone seeking marriage.

You can go to the UK primarily for the theater, and secondarily to be near your guy ~ line 1 says that it will be very auspicious on the secondary front!

This is a good omen for a man in the dark, because when you (line 2) appear ~ even the blind can see!

So, I say check it out, get some leads on work, and see how he feels about it ~ definitely pursue the possibility.

I hope this helps!

I agree with above, importantly go there for the correct reasons IE your path and possibly the rest will fall into place.

Just a note on hexagram 16, 16 can have so many meanings depending on the the question. I was really confused with it, when i first tried to understand the Yi, in this case its positive, like positive dreams.

54.1.2 > 16

Unfortunately I disagree with radiofreewill and steve on this one, it doesn't sound auspicious to me.
Neither 54 nor 16 are very good for work or love (16 is good for art though).

In 54.1 the woman is a concubine (i.e. not the primary wife). On top of that any steps will be lame steps.
54.2 speaks of a solitary person. Again it doesn't sound good for a relationship.
16 points to illusion/delusion, and also music/images/art.

The answer doesn't sound good for productive or profitable work, neither for a relationship, but art for the sake of art looks favoured.

Thats what i was thinking about 16 , thats why i said for the correct reasons.
She could go there intially hoping for love but her career could take her far,

Thanks, steve and diamanda ~ I felt like a bridge player who could see a way to make book with the cards in hand ~ here's my reasoning:

In line 1, the primary and the secondary go to a foreign land, where the secondary is favored and comes back the mother of the future king.

With the proviso, which both of you noted, of genuinely and sincerely pursuing Art first...and incidentally showing some girl power, too...then 16, thunder over earth, can be read as dancing together in the beginnings of courtship ~ Joy.

That, plus lines 1 and 2 unambiguously recommend taking action over being passive ~ which is her other option, to wait three years for him to come to Canada. Three years is a long time...

However, I tend to defer to others' actual experiences with the same toss ~ I feel like that's when Resonance motivates readers to comment?

Since I'm in the minority view on this one, please consider my read a friendly dissent along the lines of "Fortune favors the bold."

Hey Radiofreewill no I agree with you that its favourable to go, I jsut felt that if she was to go then she should ultimately do it for herself.

As i mention 16 is really a difficult hexagram at times, thats why I think in light of the question its great.

I like the breakdown as to why you think so, i suppose she is asking about what will the whole experience which i was looking more at her career. I might take a deeper look at the lines, but intially i did agree that the reading was favourable. So in my eyes if its favourable then thats a good thing

I agree with diamanda,

.1 → 40(desire to be free) says UK is not the best place for her, I presume Canada is better for now. She'll be as a slave/2nd grade citizen there (54), something dull and boring ?
.2 → 51(Shock, desire to change) Crowley:
Blind of one eye?
Be as chaste as a dutchess!

Stay single, stay here in Canada, it's a better option.

I take 16 as an hopeful/wishful thinking, a dream, a short-tempered impulse of sorts.

Looking deeper at the lines now i am seeing line one as favourable and line 2 maybe not so or at least use caution. Caution should be used on any trip though.

Again i think 16 is the key it depends how you see it I believe.
Tricky reading
My feelings on this is that 16 in this case is favourable.

Maybe ask what do I need to know about the situation, maybe will bring clarity. Or others can maybe break the deadlock or confuse the issue, lol is there any good info on hexagram 16, my experience has been that i should get things moving or its up to me and then on other hand i am dreaming or its unfavourable. I had 16 the other day it was really unfavourable.

Confusing hexagram

Chloe! No inching needed here, but just a little advice....
how old are you? I assume you are young. Honey, GO AHEAD but do it for the valid reasons. Following a man (I couldn't tell if you are already dating him) or pursuing a blind love is not one of those reasons, but having an experience abroad is related to something that makes you good (art, etc) is reason enough!

I do agree with what Steve told you before. Go to the uk for all the reasons related directly to you and your personal growth, love will come along (with him or with other person).

Best of luck!

Hi B, I'm 23 so, yes still pretty young. I'm investigating going to a school in UK and I'm wondering if that will be the best route to take if I do decide to venture there. I try to be realistic about what could happen with this guy but I can't help but dream. I'm an idealist after all. I did another reading to look for clarity as Steve suggested. I asked about what would happen if I was to apply to school which read Hexagram 5 changing to hexagram 46. I also asked how I can achieve success through my career/art and I got the reading 30 to 62. I'm thinking that I would like to travel regardless of what possibilites could happen with this guy, I'm much more interested in finding success with my art because I know that is where I will find true satisfaction. It's been my dream my entire life and now I am finally pursing it and there are so many options I feel overwhelmed.

Lake below is about exchange and joy and represents the inner situation and you or your current approach. Lake can also represent looking at things superficially or without depth. The two moving lines are yang in the depths of the lake. Line one is the place of intention, beginnings, and is a yang with too much yin. This suggests a weakness in the intentions. Clarify what they are and how to accomplish them. Line two is yang, when it should be yin. The place of expression is not central or correct. It suggests a lack of clarity about the situation. Gather more information. Be responsive to conditions.

The upper trigram is thunder and represents the question of what the UK will bring. It is big, rapid change. It could be startling. It is a situation over which you will not have control. It will not be what you expect. Thunder can also fertilize growth, but not likely in the way you are expecting. Thunder shakes things up.

It is indication to me that what you intend to get out of the trip is not what you will get. You are not seeing things clearly and not realistic about your intentions. It will be a shock. In reading over your question, I wondered: have you visited there?; do you have living arrangements or work lined up?; have you talked to the person of interest about your intentions?; do you have connections to help you there?

Best wishes in whatever you decide.
