My husband is missing

My husband went to his family's cabin by the lake but has gone missing. He wasn't there for very long before he apparently decided to take some of his camping/survival gear to another county about 70 miles away and took off on foot in a very rural, undeveloped, and wooded area. He left his truck just off the road, and authorities found what appeared to be combat boot tracks heading east along the river. It has been over 8 weeks now. As you might imagine, there are many unanswered questions.

I asked if my husband was still alive. The response this morning was 11.6 changing to 26.

I know you're not supposed to ask yes/no questions but I am so lost and frankly don't know what to think.

11.6 The bulwarks fall back into the moat – don't use the army.
From your own city, declaring the mandate.
Constancy means shame.'

The assumption is that he went on some kind of personal survivalist test. He has a tent but i could easily see him fashioning himself a crude shelter. Line 6 makes me think of a shelter that has been destroyed/eroded. It doesn't sound promising to me. But then there's hexagram 26:

Great taming,
Constancy bears fruit.
Not eating at home, good fortune.
Fruitful to cross the great river.'

This sounds more promising, that he's out there making it and just not ready to be found.

The reason it's so concerning is that 8 weeks is a long time to have to fend for yourself. He's a skinny guy so he doesn't have a lot of body fat to lose. Plus, although the temperature has been fairly mild it's still storm season here and there have been many rains and thunderstorms blow through the area.

Any thoughts or insight are greatly appreciated.

Hi emmjay,
Very sorry to hear about this, I can imagine how terribly worried you must be.
11.6 > 26 says to me that he did indeed run into some trouble, but he'll survive.
I had this combination myself during an awful time, and here I am.
Fingers crossed that he'll be back safe and soon!

Yes, I agree with Diamanda. I have received this line before and it generally means that there was some unforeseen issues that I had to contend with that set me back a bit.

8 weeks is a very long time. I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. I will keep you in my thoughts. Please keep us updated.

Thank you for the wishes.

A few days ago I asked where he was at that point, to which I received 52 unchanging. I thought that could be something very literal, as in he's on a mountain. The state we live in has fairly flat land, and I do not believe there are any mountains in the area where he took off on foot, but there are hills. There are mountains in other parts of the state, however.

Or that could refer to him being in an immovable situation. Or wherever he is, he is not likely to be disturbed.

I am not sure these are the kinds of questions one should be asking the oracle, but alas, these are the questions that I wish I had answers for.

I am sorry not to refer to your casts, but I would never do this in questions dealing with issues concerning health or death... plus, my knowledge of the Yi is not even profound enough. And I could imagine that others hesistate as well, because it is really delicate. Nobody would want to wrongly encourage or discourage you.
I just can say, that I feel very sorry for you. It is the horror of horrors, if a beloved one went missing.
Who is searching for your husband? Did he leave to the trip in peace or were there any problems, if I may ask? and do you have people around you, helping you in this difficult situation?

Yes 52 could be something like a mountain, or hill. 52 means to stop, when required. There is still movement in 52 though (inner upper trigram Zhen/thunder), and there's a mention of "he goes into the courtyard", so maybe a building is indicated. 52 cannot be influenced by others, it can thus show a certain obstinacy. So as you said, he is not likely to be disturbed.

I've been thinking about 11.6. It does give advice, which actually sounds very apt in this situation. "Do not use the army", ok that's clear enough, do not use official forces. But also, "in your own area announce the command". Which, to me, sounds like issue something like missing-person posters in your area.

Is it possible at all that he is using this as a devious way to abandon you?
I hope you're looking after yourself emmjay.

It doesn't say don't use officials.
It says don't attack with an army. (that's what armies do, attack, swords and arrows.) Search and rescue/missing persons operations are quite different.

Have you already spoken to authorities?

Why did he have no mobile phone ? Everyone carries one these days so am wondering what happens when you call his phone ? Is it just dead or does it ring out but no one answers ? Lack of signal ?

Regardless of your cast surely you would alert police/rescue/appropriate help to find him or have you already ?

yes, I see someone found boot prints.

Is there something to this story that you haven't told us yet? (did you argue before he left?)
