Hi, everyone!

I would really appreciate your insight on this question/problem of mine.

I am about to beging new studies which mean a break through for me, a possibility of a totally new carieer orientation and I am looking very forward to it.
But I will be absent from my country for three months - so that means I will be absent from the classes and the practice which is a must at this school. I will also probably miss my mid term exams.

I talked with one of the former professors at this school and she told me that everyting can be arranged. That is why I applied for the stuides although I knew I was going to be absent.

But I am worried about it. I asked Yi Jing: How will my studies go concerning the fact that I will be absent for three months?

I got 43.1.5, changing into 32.

So, 43 is definitely a breakthrough, as I said, my decision that I do it, something new in my life.
But I guess, concerning my question, it says that I should be careful, going step by step. The first line is I guess about being very careful, proceeding with tiny steps - maybe that meand that I will have to talk about each and every professor and be gentle about it, but still firm, "resoluted".
Line 5 is about staying firm, as I undestand it. I should stick to my decision to study this, I should not let go. Maybe some times it will be difficult but I must persevere.

I guess 32 is also about duration, persevering. I must not yield if some problems occur. And I will be able to go through this.

What do you think? Will I be able to study this?

Thank you!

Do you think you have bitten off more than you can chew ? Line 1 seems to indicate that, though perhaps line 5 is more positive. Seems you have great determination to go through with this, but there may be problems coping with the catching up.

It sounds like you have already committed to this course of action so I don't want to sound negative, but is it at all possible to defer for another year when you won't have to miss three months. I feel this is a warning and you are right to be worried because you will be overburdening yourself. I'm sorry to be negative, perhaps others may see your answer from a more positive angle.

Hi, Void,

thank you for your answer. No, there is no chance for me to postpone my absence. I rather risk loosing one year of studies.

I will be overburdening myself...if that is the only problem, then I can take it

Hi, I meant postpone the studying not the abscence. It is usually possible for students in this country, England, to defer their studies a year.

Line 1 seems to me to say you think you'll be able to handle it, you start out with determination, but it proves too much. If you then have to abandon your studies this will be unfortunate in that it may affect your self esteem etc and possibly waste your resources of time , energy etc. I know my comments here are most discouraging, sorry.

As long as you are sure and have no serious doubts I'm sure you can trust your own judgement, but I wouldn't be being honest if I said I think the answer you received said 'go ahead, no problems'.

I'm no Yi Jing scholar though, thats just my experience with this line.

Hi, Void,

well, you know, I will be absent most likely even next year, hopefully every year, so...some time I will have to go through this and arrange it with professors and everything.

We'll see...

Thank you for your input!

So Moonrise, if I may ask, what exactly does 43.1 mean to you?

Hi, Jte,

well, yes, it does not look promising

In my book it says: if you go without being capable to do the task, you make a mistake.
Yesterday I was pondering on this my situation...and I accepted that it is quite probable that I will fail the first year and I will have to repeat it next year, at least all the classes which are necessary. Okay, so be it

I already finished one university, this is the second one and means a complete shift in my carieer which I am looking forward to...but still, I will not give up everything to do it. I need to go away for three months...if that is the cause for me not succeding the first year, so, okay

Then the fift line says : you need to proceed in your path, stay firm. I feel it is saying that I should not be taken away form what makey my life meaningful and this trip does. So, I risk everything

And then that 32...isn't that about persevering? I don't know, maybe I just see what I want to see. Duration is for me sticking to my plans and sticking to my paht...I don't know, maybe I am decieving myself, but I am willing to risk it.

Okay, just wanted to point that out. Yes, as you point out you got 43.5 as well as 43.1, so that is mixed in there, too...

Best of luck,

Hrmmm. This thread gave me a bit of an Aha!

Maybe a "global/universal" meaning of the text of 43.1 means that, ultimately, you cannot completely eradicate evil/corruption. This seems to be a bit of a theme with the Yi. So, maybe 43.1 is kind of a heads-up for when you start out on this kind of effort.

So, 43.5 seems to be advice for those in the position of trying to keep evil/corruption under control. Kind of the level of effort/"perserverance" required to keep it under control.

This also makes me wonder why 18 has a lot of success implied in it (for most lines), whereas this Hex doesn't. Have to think about that for a while...
