Hello there!

There are two beautiful and hungry German shepherds in a courtyard not far from where I live. Their ribcage shows from under the fur, they stink, one of them had an eye infection, both have an eczema on the tip of their ears and they are always alone.

The first time I passed by their gate I was eating something and it felt just natural for me to share it with them. They were friendly and I could pat them and stroke them a bit. Every now and then I used to go to see them and recently I noticed that actually, since a while, I'm going everyday to bring them food. They are happy and I'm happy to see them happy. I took care of the eye infection of one of them and now I'm taking care of the ear eczema.

Once their master -- an unhappy man who's seen the downfall of his company (the dogs keep watch in the company's yard which is now closed and looks abandoned) -- saw me while patting the dogs and he was not really happy of the friendliness his dogs where showing. He wants them to be ferocious watchdogs, that's why he gives them little food. We exchanged a few words and it was clear that he was not open to hear anything about the way he keeps his dogs.

I just received hex 44 in response to the question: "What about my involvement with the two German shepherds?

I recognized the 44 energy in me whenever I go seeing them; I feel like a person having a secret affair with someone already married. I hope their master is not at home, I call the dogs to a spot of the railings where is more difficult to see us from the windows, I know the dogs are "married" with someone else, I know our relationship cannot last and at the same time I don't know how to stop it.

Also, I now better understand what it means "The queen promulgates her commands in all directions". I know I will talk to that men asap because I would like to bring the dog's to a hex 24 situation or I'll promulgate my commands to whatever animal protection association exists around here.

I understand for the first time what it means for hex 44 not to be negative or positive: it simply points out to me how I feel inside, it tells me to do what I can for the dogs knowing this is a chance encounter that is not meant to last.

Suchness! :duh:

I can strongly relate to your situation, as my next door neighbors have a bitch pit-bull with an aggressive disposition, tied to the front of their house all day. Early on I offered to help socialize the dog by letting her in my yard to play with my male dog, and let me work with her and exercise her to calm her aggression. Their response was "that's not gonna happen." It's become obvious that they do not want a healthy, well mannered, well exercised pet, but want a dangerous, neurotic "bad ass" dog to reflect their own macho image. There's little I could do, as the dog has become so aggressive, I'm certain it would attack me and would probably kill my dog if she had the chance. I began taking videos of the dog, which barked continuously (nerve wracking), and then called Animal Control, and had a sit down meeting with the AC chief, showed her the videos. She paid them a visit, warning them of their liability if their dog ever attacks anyone, and said next time she has to be called out to see them, there would be charges filed. The dog is still vicious but at least they keep her inside most of the time. She's become overweight and still extremely hostile when tied up outside.

In your case, my emotions say that the man should be euthanized and the dogs adopted to a caring home, which is probably a very 44-ish attitude. I feel for you and those dogs. If there are local animal control authorities in your area, I would contact them. That would not be a 44 condition, more of a 21 action. If there is no such animal authority there, I think there isn't much recourse for you.

Good luck to you and those German Shepherds.

Nobility can be acquired through the care of dogs:

"Scholars and adherents of Sufism are unanimous in agreeing that Sufism cannot be learned through books. To reach the highest levels of success in Sufism typically requires that the disciple live with and serve the teacher for many, many years. For instance, Baha-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari, who gave his name to the Naqshbandi Order, served his first teacher, Sayyid Muhammad Baba As-Samasi, for 20 years, until as-Samasi died. He subsequently served several other teachers for lengthy periods of time. The extreme arduousness of his spiritual preparation is illustrated by his service, as directed by his teacher, to the weak and needy members of his community in a state of complete humility and tolerance for many years. When he believed this mission to be concluded, his teacher next directed him to care for animals, curing their sicknesses, cleaning their wounds, and assisting them in finding provision. After many years of this he was next instructed to spend many years in the care of dogs in a state of humility, and to ask them for support."

Hello pocossin, :bows:

I went today again to the doggies: mission accomplished. They ate and then I played a bit with them through the railings and thought to myself to remember to bring a tennis ball next time. It's great to feel how energetic, intelligent and communicative they are.

Interacting with them gives me access to a very deep, simple and vibrating part of me which is not so easily available. It feels like another aspect of hex 44.

Ciao ciao :)

hi emiliana

what a sad story about those two poor sick dogs! It's breaking my heart to read how some people treat their pets . . I think it's great what you want to do about them, although I can't see how it is a 'special secret affair' in this case -since you have talked about it and want to be vocal

Anyways, this might sound a bit like sappy psychologizing but I seem to remember you posting questions about caring for dogs before, so I wonder if there was something more to your answer, something about the way you would like to see yourself, or the special thrill of rescuing those animals, or even, about some part of yourself finding a way to grab your conscious attention . . (?)
(This last bit is heavily influenced, I admit, from something Rosada often says about the yin line of 44)

I'm saying so cause getting 44 seemed to me like an odd answer here . . I guess 18, or 43 or even 42 would be more likely.

good luck with your Germans!!

Hi rodaki,

you write:

I'm referring to one aspect of hex 44 according to what I read in www.iching123.com/64_hexagrams_list_text.htm. It says that "Gou signifies to meet... in an abnormal way, such as adultery".

I could recognize that I actually feel this energy when I go to see the dogs: I feel excited and thrilled and delighted like when going to a secret rendez-vous with a lover hoping not to be caught together. Yeah, in a way this is a clandestine relationship, and I called it special just to trigger your curiosity.
Did I manage? :p

Rodaki, it can be anything. I definitely like dogs. To me being with them is a shortcut to happiness. We are human people, they are canine people; in the eyes of the Universe I'm sure we're all just the same.

When I received Hex 44 I was also surprised at first, but I took the Yi word for it and delved into Gou till it made sense. And now it does. :)

All the best.

oh do I know the connection between human and animal creatures! :)
It happens to me with dogs and cats and I'm quite sure that in summer insects understand me when I show them the window . .

Just this morning at work while sitting on the computer station a bird flew in the room, thru the closed curtains . . In fact I came to the famously called 'shredded' readings area :)p) to post about that but then I realized I didn't need to, cause I knew already

Anyways, of course any reading can mean any number of things depending on circumstance and idiosyncracy -in my world, I call this the 'yijing's unbearable lightness of being' (!)- and altho I actually had something a tad more simple in mind about 44 than 'adultery' when I posted, it is your reading :)
