Strangely line 3.5 indicates that he is unable to express his feelings because of his status, and now that you say that he is married, the line makes perfect sense. Therefore if he and you were to get "together" it would have to be done very quietly, as an outright affair would indeed be disastrous for him.

Simple, when/if he reappears then having nothing to do with him, surely he can't force you to talk to him.
