A while ago (almost 2 yrs i think) i had a NDE experience, followed by a trip in jungles of Peru, living with shamans for awhile. In that trip during one of the ceremonies I've received a gift from the spirit which I don't fully understand yet (since it came without a user manual :) ). It completely changed my life but i'm still struggling to understand how can better use it.

That's why i've turned to I Ching in the first place.

So I've asked I Ching :
How you better describe the gift i've received ( so I can better understand it )?

I got 25.1.4.5.6 -> 2 ( Innocence - no big news since i already know that)

Next question was
How do i better make use of it ?

45.4->8 ( this is easier to understand)

Any insights will be appreciated

Thank you

HI

The Yi appears to be saying to share this with others unselfishly, working for the better good

possibly that wanting it described is not the way to go., just accept it don't analyse it. Disentangle yourself from needing to label (25) what you received (2). Or actually not what you received but what received you. Its like a picture of an unexpected allowance of entry to another realm...to me thats how it is described.

It's only going to be one small step on your larger spiritual journey, gato. Don't make too much of it, otherwise you'll just make yourself over-anxious about it.

An old spiritual teacher named Krishnamurti used to say that on a spiritual path that we will experience all sorts of gifts, but his advice was never to accord them much attention. In themselves, they are nothing.

For example, many people are trying to master their psychic abilities without having any belief system at all. This is a mistake.

Better to have some sort of regular spiritual practice. Maybe join a group.

@trojan it's very true, accepted in , will describe the experience more accurately...
@genie & @trojan: "let go" part rings a familiar bell ...

If it comes up that through your gift you might be able to help yourself or help someone else, that's why it was given to you . . . Such opportunities may arise spontaneously (or unexpectedly).

I think Yi's advice to you is to stay 'innocent' and never use your gift in a way that's motivated by pure selfishness, desire for mastery over others, or thinking about how you might get somewhere with this gift. :)

i did ask a specific question about how do i better use it... 45.4->8

innocence was the answer for describing it ... but i agree with principles you wrote, at least most of them.

not sure what you mean when you say mastery over others and 45.4 says about a form of mastery ( according to Alfed Huang ) :

..... Owing to these excellent conditions, his words and deeds have great influence, but he should act with extreme caution (i think this describes my condition perfectly).....He is sincere in bringing people together for the king and the country. Although his place is neither central nor correct, other conditions are excellent. Thus, his plan will reap great good fortune and are without fault.

is that what you refer when you say "mastery over the others " ?

I've always liked the fact that 45.4 is not one in a central position and yet there is great good fortune. this seems to tie in very nicely with hex 25....to me, it reiterates the spontaneous good fortune such a gift entails, unsought after but precious. To me, it seems that the expanded awareness brought about by an NDE is a gift to others just by virtue of your expanded awareness.

Would you care to share any details of your NDE? I would be very interested in hearing about it. BUt only if you feel so inclined!

I mean cultivating unusual powers in order to manipulate or control other people.

For example, when hypnosis first became popular, hypnotists liked to play tricks on people as party games, making hypnotic subjects bark as if they were dogs, just so that a lot people would laugh and be amazed.

Nowadays, many people are practicing their psychic gifts -- but one really has to ask: To what end or with what purpose in mind?

Guess it all comes down to: we didn't exactly create ourselves or give ourselves 'gifts.' One has to understand how humility or modesty also enters into the equation. In my opinion, this takes a daily spiritual practice. Mainly because we cannot see ourselves very well, and sometimes a group can help us with that aspect . . .

I agree with the value of spiritual practice. NOt so sure about the group idea though. Somehow groups have a way of becoming counterproductive, the wily human ego worming its way into the mix, and this most especially in groups devoted to spiritual growth, oddly enough;).

In spiritual matters, I find solitude and a practice of mindfulness ( presence) to be most helpful, and walks long enough to disengage the thinking mind and allow for inspiration. Keep you own counsel. In the end one needs to trust oneself. we are designed to do that.

Yes, I've thought about it and find I agree with Bamboo. Groups bring troubles of their own. Even if one is drawn to a particular group, often there are good reasons to stay on the periphery and keep one's own counsel, as Bamboo mentioned above. Peace is within. Happiness comes from within. Delight comes from within. All good things originate from within.
