New blog index page

compass on an antique map
I’ve just added a dedicated blog index page to the site’s menu. (You’ll find it under ‘blog’ and also under the search icon for good measure.) You can use this to scan a compact list of all posts, or filter the list by category or series. You’ll also find a tag cloud at the top of the page, which is the quickest way to find all posts that mention a particular hexagram or topic.

I hope this’ll make it easier to find what you’re looking for in the archives. They turn out to be… extensive. (This is post number 901.)

I’ve had a lot of help creating this, for which I am hugely grateful!

So is there 901 blogs listed on one page ? Doesn't look like 901.

Should be, unless I've done something daft again...

...yes, they're there, though they may take a while to load. If you hit Ctrl+end you'll find a post from March 2005 at the bottom of the page.

Yes 2005 is at the bottom of the page I'm just surprised there's that many when it doesn't look like that many.

I haven't actually counted them on the page, but on the back end it said 900.

You've got too much faith in the back end.

Well probably it is 900, it's just hard to perceive 900 entries there according to what my brain thinks 900 looks like. I don't think I will try to count them unless I can't sleep.

900 ! That's a lot of blogs. Thank Goodness they are now more accessible and will see the light of day more.

Here's an idea....why not have a revolving Blog page so that each day or each week a new Blog from the Past is automatically shuffled to the top. It could have it's own little area. With 900 blog entries newbies are going to miss some things and I may, on occasion, not remember some of them.

Like a roulette wheel, each day a member does the spin and an old blog appears. Of course if by the laws of chance an old blog, from say 2009, kept resurfacing it would be an interesting synchronicity.

Whoever gets to the roulette wheel first gets to do the spin.

Yes, I do think apart from new blogs each week there should be a blog from the past, in the Bloglette area.

It's what they do on the radio with songs, they don't just play new ones

Maybe I will use myself rather than a plug in. I will be my own Blouette wheel.

This is weird - I just tried using the table of contents list to find this recent article about hexagram 12:

- and it's not there. It should be between "‘Well Gatherings’: new weekly Yijing video chats" and "Staying connected" in the list, and it's not.

By the way, another point of defense for the whole list being on one page is that then it's easily Ctrl-f-able, find in page. Ctrl-f is one of my very favorite pals.

Good catch. It was because I'd neglected to give the post a category. Heaven and earth then failed to communicate. It's there now.
