How do I download/transfer my resonance journal to a new computer? (I don't see this answered anywhere, so am hoping it may help others as well.)

Specifically:
Do I need to repurchase a copy to download into the new computer?

What are the steps I need to take to transfer my data from the old computer to the new?

Thanks for asking!

Definitely no need to repurchase. Instead...

1. On your old computer, make sure you have updated to the latest version. (Unless you have a very, very old version, there will be an 'update available' button at the top if you need to update.)
2. On your old computer, plug in an external drive and back up your entries (File > back up journal entries) to it.
3. On your new computer, download and install a fresh copy of the software (https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/journal-software/ )
4. Re-use your original licence code to licence it. (Just contact the helpdesk if you've mislaid the code!)
5. Plug in your external drive, and use File > restore entries to copy in all your entries.

Three things to note...

A backup from an old version of the software may not restore properly to the latest version, which is why I recommend updating first.

If you are moving to the very latest Mac, I'm sorry to say you will probably find it doesn't allow the Resonance Journal to open. You will need to open the journal on your old machine and choose 'Entries > export to MS Excel' to retrieve your data.

If you have some kind of copy of your old installation but can no longer access your old Resonance Journal to update it and make a backup, please open a helpdesk ticket! Justin may still be able to help you restore your entries.

Ok, it was like magic!

A couple of details that were good to know:
1) Downloading and installing a fresh copy of the software meant start by clicking the Resonance Journal "Free Trial" button.
2) It was touch and go for awhile searching for my original code to enter as next step, but I eventually found where I buried it! Good to know Justin would have been there as back up to help.
