Hi there:

I asked a question that I found mostly confusing.

I got a call from a headhunter about a job in the field I left over a year ago. I left because I was at a very high executive level and I didn't want the stress and pressure and travel anymore. I had no life.

Now - I earn about 7x less than I did and so this position seems attractive and I don't know if I should interview for it. Part of the stress would be the interview process, which would probably include at least 30 people and very, very stressful in and of itself.

I asked I Ching -
What would be the result/effect in my life if I take this job (kind of jumping the gun here??)

I got:
36 unchanging

Then I asked for more clarification about why I got 36 unchanging. I thought I would do that before I decided to forget the whole idea.

Then I got:
58 unchanging
which seems contradictory.

I read 36 unchanging as - I would have no influence or effect in this job.

I read 58 unchanging as - something about boding success, unless I focused on self-interest.

I need some perspective with the connection between the two before I decide to go forward with this - if I do.

Hi Rosalie,
Could 36 have meant that you would not take the job? I see 58 as meaning tossing ideas back and forth as in the water from one lake flowing into the other and back again. So perhaps if you were to go on the interview and toss ideas back and forth you'd discover taking the job would not be in your best interests?

Just in case the comment could be useful

36.. injury, the Noble opressed by darkness. Because is an unchanging hex, see Ruler Lines. There are 2 ruler lines. Both points that you would be injury because you would be in a subordinate potition.

Why you get 36? Answer 58. Again unchanging.. so see ruler lines. Again 2 ruler lines. Both points that the job is a temptation for you, so you need to hear the truth.

Nice that you did a followup question - looking at the two answers in combination, I think the "light" that would darken in your life is the light of pleasure, contentment.

You left the original job due to the stress/pressures - they were making your life too unenjoyable. The same thing would happen again in the new position, I think.

Errrrrr!!

I think that's right. It's about the money and status - temptation towards what's not good.

And, I woke up this morning feeling disgusted and miserable. I had dreams about two old boyfriends who were nasty and trying to make me jealous. In real life, one lied to me alot - and then a dream about being in my parent's house and snooping around and getting caught.

Yuck - I haven't felt this disgusted for a long time and I think it's about the answers I got from Yi - and Jesed and Rosada's answers last night.

I know I shouldn't beat myself up. I'm human and can be tempted towards destructive things - but I still wish I was further along.

And yes, I would be in the subordinate position in this job - not the boss and that would be difficult - yet I want the rewards without the responsibility - yuck again! I feel like a sneak and deceitful.

If money is the issue, maybe you can find a workable compromise - a less stressful, less high-power position that pays enough for you. Something that you'll enjoy *and* where you earn what you need is the right balance, no?

Just in case it could be useful

One of the levels of 36: the darkness, that was inside the consultant, now are outside the consultant. He/she most have inner light to avoid darkness (temptation) can got inside again.

So, now one is able to see the darkness.. and don't accept it anymore.

So, nothing about bad feelings about ourselfes... everyone of us have darkness... good new... you can see them now because they are uotside you

I asked about what I'm getting out of my current job and I got:

44 unchanging (which I must say freaked me out till I read about it...the dreaded 44)

It's weird that for all these job questions I get unchanging hexagrams.

It says in RL Wing -

Do you all agree with this for 44 unchanging?

I don't have a clue if professionally I'm in the right place - except for all these unchanging lines. I feel I've been in transition for a long time. It seems like transition is my home - or maybe it's learning to deal with change being a given in life. I wish I knew!

This seems like a better casting than the answers I got about the other job - and that maybe there's more here than I realize in this present job.

44, my favourite hexagram..ahem...

Something weird about 44 for me, that seems reflected in what you just posted, is that it came up alot, unchanging and with changing lines, at a time when I was networking alot in order to start up a performance project.

Several times before I went to events to mingle with writers and other people who might have relevance and use to my project, I would draw 44.
A typical process at such events was that I'd talk enthusiastically about my project, enthuse others and we would then both have other ideas and inspirations to move forward sparked off, while I would also find that my ideas were modified and improved by the input of others;

I find 58 to be a very sociable hexagram-alot about the interaction between others sparking off good processes. Maybe that's what would be lacking particularly in this job you're looking at-
and 44 is indicating that at the personal level you're getting to have very interesting things sparked off within you because of the nature of your interactions with others in your current position. Sometimes unsettling, but stimulating nonetheless.

Sounds like the light that you might be hiding (36) if you went for this other job, is about your abilities with people maybe?

One suggestion, in case it could be useful

Is like the tree and the forest point of view. Take a step back of the concrete issue, and have a larger view.

I would recomend one simple question: General Diagnosis of my Labor Time. (it means, not about concrete situations, enviroments.. etc; but the place of the Labor aspect in the context of your entire Life)

Is like a puzzle, when a piece doesn't fit... well, look at the entire picture

So - if I hear you correctly, Jesed - you're saying we should start from the general and then ask followup questions (putting this together with the timeframe answer you gave me about hidden hexagrams) - then we get more specific to get a fuller perspective of the situation. Is that it?

Yes, this is an old advice, that I had found worthly to share... you can ask Nicky for her opinion... and, of course, the best would be that you could try it yourself.

This advice told of 3 levels:
a) Global Diagnosis of One Time (this is the Macrocosmical level.. where I am in my path to Tao)...
b) General Diagnosis. There are 3 mayor aspects in our lifes: Labor Time (not only "jobs", but all "outer" activity), Emotional/Pshycological Time (our inner world) and Spiritual Time.
c) Concrete aspects... of each one of the 3 mayor aspects.

"a" influences "b" and "c"; "b" influences "c". Many times, have clarity of "a" and "b" is needed to understand our "c"'s doubts
