I'm only about a week into the i Ching and already I'm losing sleep trying to absorb as much as I can so please be patient with me.

I asked the i Ching tonight ' What does the outcome look like for spending christmas with my lost love?'

I recevied Hex 25. Which seems positive. It asks that I let go of the ego, practice innocence and I will be met with success in coming times.

However, I'm starting to feel that each question I ask...to be honest they have all centered around the future of my love life with my ex boyfriend2 1/2 years of (whom I hope to reconnect).

I'm using a book by Brian Brown Walker...is there a better book I should be using?

Thank you,
JEN

Dear jenatl,

As you are learning how to use the Yi (aren't we all ;) I would advise you to resist the temptation to interpret your hexagrams and lines as "positive" or "negative", as it can lead to misunderstandings of what the Yi is actually telling you.

That said, Hex 25 represents your true nature, your innocent state, your natural qualities, things that have not been affected or spoilt by the world. Because that way you have phrased your question, the Yi could be simply saying to you: Just be yourself, expect nothing" ;) Because your question is quite vague, you see. Are you expecting to spend Christmas with your lost love? Or rather are you hoping ?

The more objective your questions, the more your answers would be related to them.

All the best:bows:

Hi Mirian,
Thank you for your reply. I asked a better question today, I think. Please let me know what you think of how I framed the question and the answer from i Ching. I asked 'what does the outcome look like for Pat and I'? I received back Hex 34 changing at lines 2 and 6.

Your help is very appreicated. How long have you been doing i Ching and what books would you recommend I consult?

Thanks again,
Jennie

Dear Jennie,

I would suggest a few authors for a start, others here will have different suggestions as well. Richard Wilhelm/Cary Baynes and Hilary Barrett. Also, available on the Web, Bradford Hatcher and LiSe Heyboer. There is plenty, also, to explore on this website (Forums, Newsletters, etc..)

But, you see, you don't need to, or shouldn't, get everything at once, please do not try to learn as much as you can in a short period of time. First and foremost, enjoy the process;)

Regarding you reading: 34.2.6 >> 30

This is the hexagram of power, strength, energy, movement. The problem being that here there is a tendency to use too much, to go too far, to go over the top :D. There is impatience and an urge to get too much, too soon.
Line 2 advises moderation and balance.
Line 6 describes someone who is obstinate and stubborn, pushing the issue so hard that one comes to a brick wall.:D But it can be avoided, if one drops this attitude.

Hope it helps, as a starting point.:bows:
