Just got a call from a prospective employer in the new city today. It's returning to a previous profession, a field I haven't worked in about 10 years. Needless to say, I'm nervous about the interview and the job itself. I haven't done this particular job, but have trained several subordinates to this particular position and consulted with people who have had this job in the past (not at this business, however). My credentials should have impressed this business owner, now....is this the opportunity I've been looking for in X City?

So, I asked Yi "How will the job interview go?" and got a 60.5.6 > 41. I believe the IC is reflecting my current situation in hex 41, as the job I'm interviewing for promises to be rather lucrative and I'm struggling financially now. I think Yi is reminding me to stay humble and stay within what's reasonable for the interview (following socially acceptable behaviour rules here) in line 5, but the constraints in line 6 concern me. What do you take that to mean?

I followed up and asked "If I were to take the job, how would it go?" and received a 43.2 > 49. Could that mean that in a time of total transformation in my life (which I truly feel this will be), that this new job/transition/move won't be easy, but if I keep my wits about me and prepare financially for any potential problems down the road, I'll be okay?

This job is known to have a very high turnover rate. High pay, but high stress and hot heads usually mean this kind of job can be one with a revolving door in some cases...others, I've seen ones stay in this position for years. It really depends on the person, IMO.

Thanks for your input on this....now to go do research on the company and leave Yi alone. It's so tempting to ask it a kazillion questions when you're anxious like this!

Reduce and Set Limits

You got the two lines about the two different kinds of Setting Limits: Sweet Limits, and Bitter Limits. Sweet Limits are those you can live within comfortably and Bitter Limits are those which are impossible to keep constant in. Given the hot heads and the high stress, Yi may simply be reminding you of the kinds of limitations you will be under if you take the job.

Since you asked about the job interview, I wonder if some limits are appropriate to define for the interview. If you could shape the job to your liking, what would you diminish (H41). What sweet limitations would you put in place, and what bitter, difficult limitations might you be put under?

Perhaps you should you think about the idea of defining what limitations this situation puts you under, even if it doesn't come up directly in the interview.

Thanks, tigerintheboat!

I think that Yi is definitely reminding me that I'll need to set limits...like for instance, ensuring what I'm willing to accept for pay (i.e., base salary versus commissions) and how many hours/days I can work each week. Like I mentioned to my Mom tonight, that for the high pay rate there is a trade off - many hours to be worked and a high level of expectations for someone in this position.

I know I've got to take care of my health, so there is already a limitation there, so yes, I do need to consider just how much work/stress I can handle with this job. For me, I need to have time to pursue the things that make me happy and relieve my stress levels. I will stand firm on having time to pursue my singing and dog sports. Those two things I must be able to participate in or I won't take the job. No discussion necessary.

Oh, why didn't I just get a 35 or something nice and easy to understand like that? LOL! I appreciate you taking the time to give me your input on this (seemingly) important event in my near future.

I Promised I Wouldn't Pester Yi....

Okay, so I couldn't keep from pestering Yi with another question. I had to know if I'd get the job. I asked "Will I get the job at x?" and received 24.1.5 > 8. Just had to share that one, folks, as I read that one to say I am finding a return to my true self and previous way of life before the ex. In this line of work, I started in it as a child and only left after losing a job in my 30s, mostly due to an obsessive partner who mistrusted me so much I could no longer do my job. I gave him no reason to doubt my loyalty, but alas, we all know about those types who criticize their partners for the very thing they're doing wrong. Afterall, it was his cheating that ended that relationship. But I digress...

I also see Yi telling me that I'll be given the opportunity to reflect on my past but not to beat myself up over what happened (losing my job). It is time to return to the path and be with others of similar mind.

I asked one more of the IC - "What will my life be like when I am working for X and living in X City?" and received a 49.4.6 > 37. While I understand that's a very complex question, I wanted to get at the heart of what things will be like once I'm there and settled. I have a feeling I'll be commuting for a while.

I believe that Yi is telling me here that I need to remain confident in this direction during the time of transformation in my life. I'm also reminded that it is also paramount that I leave thoughts of the ex, memories of him, the abuse, the fears I've been living with here all behind. Close the chapter and start a whole new book, in other words. I think the 37 is talking about the "family" of like-minded people in this company and industry. We truly are a different breed. Or perhaps that in this new place, I will find a companion that I will become "family" with? Well, the latter is wishful thinking, but the co-worker "family" is a sure thing, IMO.

I emailed my cousin who has a connection with this company as a supplier and asked for his insights (and hopefully a good word) tonight. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Limitations...What Limitations?

Well, my friends....I got the job! The man offered it to me on the spot and asked me a couple of times to make sure I truly realized that he really wanted me on his team. It's a huge risk I'll be taking, but it looks like I'm going to take that leap of faith. What is that saying, "A journey of a million miles begins with one single step"? Well, the first one's apparently a doozy here.

The limitations I think were referenced in my reading dealt with a lot of issues here. First of all, the company is structured a little differently than I had expected, so the role of this position is slightly different. While it is still a management-type position, it does not really have traditional direct reports as I expected. There will be others in my job as well and that limits the role and responsibilities of my particular position. It will not be as far reaching as I had originally expected, and I'm okay with that. Otherwise, I think it could be overwhelming. I think this limitation could work better for me.

Another limitation I utilized today was that of my mouth. I let the hiring manager talk and interject when necessary. No need to say too much, as he seemed sold on me the moment we met, IMO.

The hours/number of days are already set and are fewer than I had expected. However, it appears that the pay is not, and I for one, like that. :) In addition, I'll be getting health insurance again soon. Yay! Hopefully that means I'll be getting better medical care too as a result.

I was also told to keep an open mind about things at this company, as the hiring manager told me that he would like for me to consider a different job they will be creating in about six months' time. He said I would be perfect for that and it would include travel between this location and one a few states away. I had been doing readings in the past about whether or not this was the job opportunity that was "the one"...and kept getting this "not yet, another one will be coming soon". I think Yi was trying to tell me that the company was "the one", but perhaps the new position is "the one" intended for me and not this one I was just hired for. Perhaps, only time will tell.

Oh, and one more thing...the hiring manager made mention that those who worked at the company "were family to one another". Thank you, Hex 37!

I'm still struggling to put all of this in perspective, but I have a lot to do over the next few days, including packing up my household goods, finding a new place to move to in the new city and moving my stuff out...oh yeah, and quit my current job and mentally prepare for the new one! LOL!
