I'm back with a few new readings.

Thinking about what ben suggested, I proposed the following question:
"What will T most benefit by in a summer school program [read: camp]?" and got 3.5>24.

My inclination is to interpret this as "She needs to make small advances by having a coordinated team who are capable of reflection and rethinking their approach with her, and understand that they won't be able to discipline her as they might other children." OR (focusing on her personal benefit) "T will benefit by growing in small ways when she understands she won't always get what she wants and by learning how to reflect on her choices and behavior."

When I asked the question "What is the reality of T attending____ this summer?" I got the following responses:

A: 64.1,2>21 (the YMCA she currently attends after school)
B: 36.1>15 (the school for gifted kids)
C: 60.2,5>24 (a large Jewish community center)

Have at 'em! :D

Sounds to me something like: "It's still early days and you're on the right track with this, but don't commit bigtime to anything based on your present amount of knowledge."

Maybe a *little* bit of camp would be good for T. The heart of the message of 3.5 is 'a little bit's good, but don't go the whole nine yards'.

This does not look so good for her, as she will not be able to express herself and will probably be quite misunderstood as well.

A: 64.1,2>21 (the YMCA she currently attends after school) Does not look like a good idea.
B: 36.1>15 (the school for gifted kids) Again not a good idea.
C: 60.2,5>24 (a large Jewish community center) Sounds like a good idea.

Thank you, WF. You are always so prompt and direct, and I do appreciate that!

We are considering an earlier option now and should hear sometime this month whether that's available to us. If that doesn't work out (or a better option arrive!), we will probably enroll her for a few days at the JCC, but not for the complete summer programme.

Thank you!

Philish,

I noticed for 3.5 Wilhelm says, "success is possible only when general confidence already prevails."

To me, this shows that you'll have the greatest success at a program that has already been successful dealing with kids who need something more than the standard stuff. A program with this kind of experience can have "general confidence" instead of a need to make up new policies just for your daughter's situation.

I take 24's "To and fro goes the way" (or criss-crossed footprints hither & yon) showing what happens when "general confidence" does not already prevail: one thing after another has to be tried. But there is no harm done by this. The people coming and going are friends, not enemies.

64.1,2 > 21 Potential rough start, but no real harm done, then obstructions are overcome.

36.1 "does not eat for three days on his wanderings...The host has occasion to gossip about him." sounds very difficult! But 15 is positive, there is an appropriate balance and nothing is overdone nor too little.

60.2,5 > 24
Time to get going and appreciate healthy, appropriate boundaries, but be aware there will be "coming and going" that might be a bit unstable about the situation.

Of these options, the Jewish center looks best to me too.
