New table!

Hey, I bought a table today! It doesn't sound like a big deal maybe, but I'm stoked about it. Its a used small one but its stout and allows me to have more room than the small lift-up peg-leg one I was using, which is attached to the wall of the trailer. Now, if and when the heavy wind ever stops while I'm home, I could fix the door so it actually closes. Things been obviously screwed back together dozens of times. Maybe this weekend I can mend it to last awhile. Some mornings there's no hot water because the wind blows out the pilot light. I have food in the fridge, which has no adjustments and near freezes everything in there. Ever fried a frozen egg? The sink's the size of a large donut but the toilet throne is ample. The shower is fine, so long as I don't bend over, in which case, my butt would hit the wall and I'd fall forward, head landing in the ample toilet. I have a new microwave and I treat my old coffee machine as a prized possession. Most and profoundly essential, my old Laney tube amp stacks right behind me and a Chinese imitation Strat leans against it like slut. *sighs* Life is good.

Candid,

Amen Bro, I can empathise! Moved into this apartment and all it had for furniture was a Fridge. Bought a card table and 4 chairs at Wal-Mart for kitchen table and wound up putting 'puter on it. I was given a recliner so I sit on the recliner and eat off one of the four chairs. Oh, bought a futon at Wal-Mart, also. Most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on. Korg Triton keyboard and pair of Roland 24-bit reference monitors fills out the bill. Giant library got the old cinder-block and two by eights treatment.

As with you, life is good.

ps: Have fried a frozen egg after 2 minutes under hot water. Works like a charm.

Don't be bending over in that shower, now. You hear me? Okay! You're in Golden Valley AZ? How close is that to Phoenix, I lived in Phoenix AZ for just under two years four and a half years ago.

Yeah, Walmart has some pretty good deals sometimes. Next month I hope to buy an entertainment center there at a pretty good price and put my TV and computer in it. Also, will put it in front of the window since the blinds don't cover 100% (Don't want people reading my I Ching readings off the computer from outside, ha ha.)I never use the TV though, except for a rare show I like. Too busy.

And, I can't imagine eating frozen eggs, yuck. Will stick to Orange juice and bananas I guess.

*chuckles* how 'bout some blues in B minor, Leonard? Always works for me.

I can only guess that we have other things in common. Like, memories of the house on a hill, new SUV(s) and similar pleasures/attachments. Popularity, position and prestige. And probably a whole lot of debt to boot.

Its a designer life, isn't it? Card table and all. I can say that this is exactly where I've put myself, and I don't mean it in a self-abasing way. Just a matter of fact. Given that I assume full responsibility for the past, its fitting to accept same for the present.

When I was between ages 6 and 12, I 'd tell my parents and good friends, I am going to be a priest.

When I was in my 20s, I told my friends, I am going to be a wise old man.

Now, I approach 58, or is it 59? I tell you, I am going to be as nothing. Being something is just too much work. Something weighs a ton. Its hard to move on with a weight on my back, and I refuse to hitch a ride on a carriage.

Yeah... B minor works good

....blues in B minor.....yyeeaaahhh......I love B minor...Peter Green does, too. He's one of my all time favs....Satriani...Christ, I actually dance at his concerts....and then there's the most under-rated axeman of all time....Zappa

Everyone will probably think this is more hyperbole.....I absolutely love the word, but.... its not....I was doodling around in B minor and B major when the cpu power-waved your post.....Cool...I really love it when that happens.

So, like.... there you are......in New Mexico....and like, I'm here.....east of Mrs Sippee....and we're both funkin' on the B clan......I can. Dig it....

Play on, brotherrr.

No, I never owned the house on the hill, never wanted to own it....just liked living in it.....I was fortunate........ had a number of friends......who owned such houses and I would housesit....the most graphic example of symbiosis....

Nada,..bro.. I never went for the gold...takes too much time...realized real early....I wanted to be everything....all I could be;-))...and I have to say I've gotten EVERYTHING I wanted,...still got lots of dreams..even when I forget.... sometimes..... .just how hard I WANTED..... what I'm busy complaining about..when I get it....but, thats MY life....I claim full response...

I lived on a sailboat for 22 years because I read a book when I was in the fifth grade about sailing....and like all the dreams in my life.....I manifested it...and sailed it far and wide.....and I left a long string of children....wives...lovers...friends...I..wouldn't change one thing.....maybe ONE thing....no more..

I got this idea when quite young....that it just might be possible that I was here in the material plane...and...that WAS the reason.. ...maybe...this was like,... only happening once......maybe...I...should indulge in life...as I saw it...I love leaving and I love arriving.....and I love everything in between...

hold on to that halo...I have loads of flaws....that was the original fright-night part....realizing....the sheer number, just thinking about it....Scary Larry time....then...one day...paralysyzed with fear at the overwhelming odds....a tiny thought.....just do one at a time....like if your boat springs three leaks simultaneously....and theres just.....one of you...whaddayado?....fix one leak at a time.....it does behoove one...to make haste during these times....

so.... I'm fixing the leaks... one at time...but just 'cause I'm leaky.....doesn't mean I can't play....after all,...... children should be obscene,.not absurd....

I gave myself the best 18th birthday present I could think of.....I decided to stop maturing .....mentally...the body trends on...I was just blessed with good genes....thank the ALL...

what I really,....dearly,....absofreakinglutely adore.....is... traveling.....how long is this road?...whats over the hill?....whats on the next island?....wheres the next landfall?....roll out the charts...who will I meet...who will laugh with me?...cry on my shoulder....that was until Espana...landed in Madrid....and.. for the first time... it was like I had returned home...I think....who knows?...not I,.... yet...its still cooking......in the Dream Factory.

Just a quick note to thank you for the inspiring posts, a nice sunny way to start a friday. Maybe it's time for me to leave Stepford (or should that be Stepford leaving me). And all that from a humble table.

cheers

Hey Candid, you live in trailer? How romantic if you do. I always wanted a cravan home which I could move around in. Camp somwhere in the blue beyond away from it all (but always with some bodily protection-- like a dog or a lover!). Sigh, not easy being a woman.

Love the blues too. Sang Aretha Franklin in a show years ago and the tickets to the show even called it 'The Anita Saran Band'! 'Girl from ipanema' pretty recently in a Coffee Cafe here. Was asked to join the band -- but that's no way to make a living for a priestess. After all, how much can one do? Sing, paint, write, pray? Gotta concentrate on one thing.

I bought a real old fashioned oven because it was cheap and reminded me of the one my Mom used to have (I saw her last when i was 15 -- my parents were divorced -- and she disappeared so no one knows whether she's dead or alive. So important to know.) Simply love to watch the cake rise and the heavenly aroma.

Leonard, loved your piece. You write so well.

Hi Candid,

Here is a brief synopsis of jobs I've taken over the course of my life's odyssey.

Mechanical engineer, project estimator(piping), draughtsman, designer(piping systems/tank farm layout), HVAC systems engineering/estimating,small boat delivery captain, charter boat captain(sail and motor), navigator, boatyard supervisor, diesel mechanic, small engine mechanic, auto mechanic, plumber, finish carpenter, framer, yacht broker/salesman, commercial fisherman/crabber, scuba instructor/divemaster, surveyor, mineral buyer/seller, lapidary, jeweler(jade), painter(house interiors), boatwright, 12VDC electrician, bartender, taxidriver, fishing/hunting guide(Alaska), police dispatcher(Alaska), prospector and miner. I think I might have left out a few, but you get the picture.

Oh, almost forgot one of the most important, and at times very lucrative professions/hobbies; motorcycle streetracing, m/c sales/service.

Whew, what a long road its been, just celebrated my 60th lap around the burner last Friday. Never really thought I'd make 45 laps, and have been playing it by ear since.

Traveling is my love also, in many ways, but only to specific places, and not with the crowd, no tours for me please, you see only what the authorities want you to see, and with a crowd. I have been to Hawaii 5 times, and am looking for that sixth and final trip. My desire is to see Mt Haleakala from the top and look out over the sunrise and sunset from that mountain. My belief is that Hawaii is a spiritual vortex. Especially mount Haleakala. One of my spiritual mentors went there and spent time there, I would like to do the same. Want to go to the Carribean too, but for different reasons, just a vacation there. I have been in over half the states of the United States, and love the rich variety of flaura and fauna found in different areas. Each part of the world has its own kind of beauty. Candid, you are no doubt familiar with the desert there outside of Phoenix? I forget how to spell the name. My dad used to subscribe to Arizon highways, and they always had beautiful pictures there of nature scenes in Arizona. I was shocked by the wide variety of scenery all in one state. Oregon has the beautiful but cold rocky cliffs overlooking the beaches of the Pacific Ocean, and those rain forests in Oregon and Washington? What unsurpassed beauty! Well, anyway, if I win the lottery, I will definitely spend some time travelling.

Anita, you should get both. A lover and a dog. You're a very intelligent and attractive lady and should have no trouble finding what you want.

Leonard, I tried just the opposite, instead of stopping maturing, I thought I might give it a shot. So far it hasn't worked, I am still an 18 year old at heart. And some would say, mentally, more like 9 years old. And speaking of jobs, I have had a ton of them, and am sick of corporate america. If I had it to do over again, I would probably make the work with hands, mechanics, etc. choice> Of course, I have never been good at that kind of work, having a slightly deformed left hand, but it comes in handy in all kinds of situations, not just working for someone else.

Binz - From humble beginnings come nature's treasures, hmm? I travel to Phoenix every couple of months for training. I don't care for it very much. Too congested and hurried for me.

Anita - Lovely painting and article. Do paintings. Lovers come and go, romantic trailers leak in the rain, but dogs are also nice. Pray always.

Gene and all-

I have only been to Hawaii once, about two years ago, and spent 3 days camping in Haleakala volcano. It was like being on another planet, very surreal. I went to bed every night, looking up at the stars, looking down at the clouds through a break in the crater, like floating in the middle of the sky. Colors, landscape, animals, plants, like nowhere else I have ever been. That truly is an amazing place. One day I hiked up the crater rim and took a peek over at the big island. I have picture of that view I will to send you to your email address. I love to travel too... for about 6 years I had a seasonal job where I would work spring to fall, live in a tent, then spend my money travelling all winter. I spent time in Nepal, India, Thailand, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, Alaska, as well as western US. Haleakala is one of the coolest places I have ever been, in the sense that when you are there you are keenly aware there is really no other place quite like it. Very special. These days, my travels are limited to my daily walks around my country neighborhood here. We have a mating pair of blue herons who occupy this section of river I live on. I saw a beaver for the first time two days ago. A fox was around all summmer and fall, but I haven't seen him/her in a while. My mom saw a bobcat about two weeks ago(very rare). There are black bears in the area as well. We had a lot of rain the past few days and there are all these frogs everywhere, like they just sprouted from the ground and materialized. Strange. During these days of feeling very financially strapped, I am so grateful to my little mini-travels in this oh-so-cool little corner of the planet. Being homely can be really sweet!!! Peace - Brian

Hi Brian

You are very fortunate to have seen Mt. Haleakala. A few years back I lost a job while living in Bend, OR and was planning on going to Hawaii, instead I got involved with a lady online, went there instead, (New Jersey) against the Yi's advice, and have regretted it ever since. I know Hawaii was the place for me at that time, and am looking at the possibility of going again, just not sure how to finance it and how to prosper while I am there. While at Pearl Harbor I broke into tears and felt that I had been there. At first I thought I might have been on the Arizona, (reincarnation, all that stuff) but later it felt more like a Japanese pilot that got shot down during the attack. No proof, but I seem to feel that is the case. I was born in 47, so, if I got shot down in 41, there was plenty of time to be reborn. If it is true, how ironic to be born into the land of your enemy, so to speak. And my father was an American soldier who fought against the Japanese. Well, it's interesting speculation.

Candid,so well put -- lovers come and go, trailers leak in the rain ...and I'd add dogs always stay! Thanks Candid. talent is never transient. I'm amazed at how I can get back to my art even after ages of neglect without painting like I'm out of touch!

Anita,

The creative needs rest. Sometimes a relatively long rest, but the creative energy is always there. Putting down the brush for a season allows new growth beneath the seen. The dragon sleeps in the lake renewing his power. When its time again to create, newness comes forth with great energy and power. Without these intervals of rest and renewal our ideas become stale and redundant. Our groove becomes a rut. We become discouraged and exhausted.

You're not out of touch, just renewed. What is yours can't be lost. Even if you throw it away, it will return to you. If it doesn't, it was never your core to begin with. But I believe it is an important part of your core. I can hear the passion and power in your words. Its not the form but the life within the form that evokes transformation of human spirit, for you and for those whose life your art touches.

Namaste,
Candid
