Hi Hilary ~
I am sorry to tell you that Isaac wound up cheating or just became a typical "ass". Albeit he is not the reason I am writing. I have recently met a new guy named Chris. He is a year younger than I, Mormon virgin, figure skater. We met this last monday night while I was attending a friend's B-day party at the local pub.(He doesn't drink, smoke, drug and never has even experimented) we got along really well and ended up talking outside the pub until 5:30 in the morning at that time we had made out for 30 minutes or so. He calls when he says he is going to call and has told me that despite our busy schedules I must set aside some time for him to take me out.
Well, my question to the I Ching was simple..Show me an image of what this new relationship will be... My answer was Hex 23 splitting apart for both primary and relating... Does this mean that it will not last? It is a doomed relationship from the start?
Could you also ask the I Ching what will come of this new relationship?
Thanks for everything! Hope you had a wonderful New Years!

Here's a lil update: I am completely over the guy I originally asked about... So, nevermind with the message above.
However there is still a new interest...
We both ended our relationships within a day of each other, have always flirted, danced harmlessly together, and made jokes in referance to "if we were ever single at the same time" etc... Well, when the moment came everyone jumped at us and told us that we should hook-up. We mentioned this declaration to each other and the proposition just hung it the air over our heads. It turned into an awkward cloud creating a lil discomfort. More like an "Ooh shit, we have flirted with this idea many times, but now it is for real... what do we do now??" I honestly have always had a crush on him, but I respected the fact that he had a serious gf and was content to the harmless flirting of a good friend. Well, I haven't make an attempt at "hooking up" for the simple fact that he was heartbroken over his initiated break-up and so was I (did not want it to be just a "rebound" thing/fling whatever). Well, Last night we flirted, went to dinner(he made comments about not eating garlic in case we ended up making-out later), and sang karaoke (we did a few duets! Ooh how sweet!). It was funny people at our local pub was treating us(kinda) as if we were a couple... I do not know what to do... Is it too soon to get involved?
Will you please ask the I Ching for me?
Thanks again, Angel

I just asked for myself and received 61 with lines 2,5 and 6 changing the relating hex to 24. What does this mean? and what do you get when you ask the I Ching?
Ever so appreciative, Angel

Dear Angel,

At last, here I am. Since you?ve already asked the I Ching, I certainly won?t be asking it again (it has ways of saying ?I?ve already answered that, take the trouble to read the answer!?). Only problem ? I?m not 100% clear on what your question was in the end. Something like ?what do I do? Is it too soon to get involved again?? ?

With hexagram 24, Return, in the background, you are just recovering from the last setback, the ?Stripping Away? of #23, where what you thought was solid just falls away. Ouch. It leaves behind the essential, though, and the seeds of new growth ? and by #24, they are growing. Your energy is returning, you are getting back on track?

?Returning, success.
Going out, coming in, without trouble.
Partner comes, no mistake.
Turning round, returning, your Way. On the seventh day comes return.
Harvest in having a direction to go.?
So on the one hand, you recognise that there is a time for return: the ?seventh day? comes at the end of the week, and represents the natural end that any phase of experience has, when it turns around. There should be nothing in the way of the returning energy, and there is nothing wrong with finding friends

But still?
this is the earliest of all early stages, which I think explains your unease about getting involved. ?Without trouble? also means without pressure or haste. The energy isn?t fully expressed, but only just beginning to come back. In human terms, this isn?t ?back to life as usual?, but something quieter:

?The ancient kings closed the frontiers at winter solstice. The travelling merchants did not move, the princes didn?t inspect the provinces.?
At winter solstice, the light is beginning to return, but as yet there is no tangible sign of it. It isn?t yet time to launch into all the activity of spring. In the same way, your natural focus is inwards, not outside your personal ?frontiers?.

So that creates an intriguing background to what you?ve encountered here: Inner Truth. By itself, this hexagram would be a near-perfect blessing on a relationship. There is perfect sincerity, inner openness, and that translates over time into perfect trust. It is a good time to embark on new things, worthwhile to show constancy and persistence in carrying ideals through into reality, and not a good idea to condemn things to a premature end.

Of course, the atmosphere of ?Returning?, where it is still a little early to embark on anything new, does make some difference to this. Of those three moving lines, two are hugely encouraging, but one warns that it is possible to go too far, too soon.

Line 2:
?A crane calls in the shadows
Its young answer it.
I have a beloved wine-cup
I share, simply pouring it out?
How much better can it get? There is a distance between you, true, but you call out across it and respond to one another. And you share yourselves, joyfully.

Line 5:
?Sincerity and confidence bonds
No mistake.?
When you have the quality of inner truth, there is no mistake in coming together. When you think about it ? how could there be?

Line 6:
?The call flying high, climbing into the skies.
Constancy: misfortune.?
I think the problem here is in ?high-flown? words and ideas that get out of touch with reality, and tend to take you with them. (Like ?a relationship made in heaven, you two were made for each other?, perhaps?) Of course, they are also very much out of touch with the other person as a real individual. Persisting in this sort of thing is not sustainable ? it needs a dose of reality, genuine mutual understanding based on agreed boundaries.

So?
Not necessarily too early ? there is a lot of promise here. But with a warning to keep your feet on the ground.

Some new developments~ I have a semi-quazi boyfriend, don't ask me how I fell into this one... and I just slept with the guy I was initially asking about before, the one that had recently broke up with his gf... I just asked the I-ching what I should do about the two and I received the answer: 12 with changes on 1&3 into 13...
I am having a hard time determining what exactily this means... I would really appreciate your insight! Thanks as always, Angel

Whoah, yet more new developments? I can't keep up

.

Actually, I really do find this kind of breakneck speed hard to relate to. I hope this doesn't leave my readings too biased... but I can't think of any other way to interpret this one. Here goes:

The first piece of advice is an abundantly simple one: ?Stop?. Or ?say no?. Hexagram 12 means exactly that - rejecting something that is no good, just refusing to be involved. It also means that things are no good: they are stopped, stuck, descended into trivia where nothing really great can be achieved no matter how wisely you act.

Hexagram 13, standing ?behind? this, shows an image of ?people in harmony?. Not passionately in love, but working together as friends and partners, finding the rules and sorting out their differences as they go. I wonder whether this is what you are really looking for - people you can work with, who share your aspirations, people you can talk to?

But if the basic situation is Hexagram 12, Obstruction, negativity, nothing moving, no communication? (you get the picture!), then it doesn?t seem as if you are looking in the right place. What can you do?

Line 1: ?Pulling up mao grass, entangled roots, with its kind. Constancy, good fortune. Success.?
This is about a kind of grass that has long, strong roots underground. In my garden I have couchgrass, which grows the same way. If I take hold of one plant and pull it up, I find I just keep pulling, the roots lead on to the next plant. Under the surface, everything is connected - there may not be all that much difference between the two relationships as you?re approaching them at present. If you start pulling at one - to loosen its grip on you, maybe, and get a look at the roots of the problem - you may find that it?s connected to the other. The line suggests it?s a very good idea to start digging!

Line 3: ?Enfolding embarrassment.?
I imagine you?re feeling a bit awkward about the whole thing; you certainly don?t sound very enthusiastic about any of it, especially the ?semi-quasi boyfriend?! To ?enfold? the embarrassment is to hold it within you, not to try to push the feeling away.

What do you think? Does this make sense? (hope it does?)
