Tried my first reading and I think it means don't do it is ths correct.
The question was:
What will be the result of sending a complaint email to my employer.

The results I got were 13 with lines 1,4 & 5 changing so the related hexagram is 52.

Any advice/help greatfully received

Yes I agree with your interpretation, it doesn't look like this email will really be necessary. Theres a bond of joint interest between you and those involved - working together I guess (13.1), you feel the need to defend, get ready, but then see there really is no necessity to do this (13.4) and eventually the source of disagreement/comp[laint is overcome in a friendly way and theres relief (13.5). 52 as the relating hexagram shows non action - so yes hold fire, it seems things will get better without this email.

Sending an email would be not be the right thing to do, if you have a problem you need to confront your employer face to face, then you can sort the problem out, there may be some discussion involved but after a successful solution will be found. Your employer will appreciate that you are brave enough to face him/her head on, what they won't like is you hiding behind an email with no guts to show yourself.

Hi stewlsa,

I'd read this as: the resolution of this issue will not be easy, and will not come about from standing still, but from taking the right action.

The right action involves treating everyone as equals and not being underhanded in any way (13.1). Don't become defensive, but hold back for a while after the issue has passed, as this will actually serve to strengthen your position (13.4). However, when you're ready, and all your ducks are in a row (your inner army), you need to ask for what you need (13.5)(focus on your inner truth as well as the values of your enviornment). If all of these steps are right, you'll eventually arrive at inner peace (52) over this issue.

Consider all the pros and cons of writing the email vs. in person, and get organized about your approach, then go ahead.

Hope this helps.

52. Keeping Still is the image of one mountain followed by another. These create very strong boundries that keep energies from flowing wildly about the place. So it gives the impression of keeping disturbing thoughts away, outside interferance away so you can focus on what is right in front of you. I assume from this that part of your intention in sending the boss an email would be that in this way you could insure some privacy for your conversation. Is the complaint then not about your own job situation, but perhaps you need to address some concerns about fellow workers and you want to be sure you can say things in private that would not get back to the group? 52. seems to promise the privacy, although I also wonder as it is the Final Outcome hexagram if this could also indicate that the boss Keeps Still and you don't get any results or even any feedback from your email?
13. Fellowship with Men. Is this refering to your co-workers? The lines are so positive it makes me think that somehow you all should be able to work things out together without having to resort to bringing in the boss. Or is it that the whole group agrees the boss sucks and this is to be an anonimous email telling him so?

Anyway, putting things in writing is always tricky. It's so easy for it to backfire. It can fall into the wrong hands, be misinterpreted, or the person you send it to can just claim they never got it. I recommend you step back and ask the I Ching what's the best way to proceed. 13.1 specifically cautions that to have success with the group there can be no secrets.

WOW what a response

Thanks Rosada - that is some translation

Things have moved ahead slightly in that I have discussed my concerns with my immediate boss who was the person I was having problems with. The email was to go to head office and my bosses line manager.

As I had loosely alerted head office to a potential problem they now want me to contact them direct - but at least I can now tell them I have dicussed the concerns with my line manager.

Based on what my line manager said, they are going to discuss it with the management team members. So I have started a ball rolling. I will await the outcome.
