55 is about a time where one can dwell in the worries, or take the advice of the hex as in gato's signature and enjoy the time for what it is, get out there and make decisions. The glass is actually half full when one in inclined to think it is half empty. (oh and look there is a jug of water next to the glass anyway...abundance!)

Except that most of the lines suggest going inside rather than out there, and making decisions with the help of ones own inner master or ruler. I believe this is what Riurik was referring to. Also the glass is definitely completely full in either case. I think the question is, is one prepared to deal with the fullness, can one stand the full exposure to the sun at midday, especially if while injured, or does wisdom cause one to seek shade, so that the extreme brightness of the midday sun can be filtered. I think we do this even when donning sunglasses and applying UV protection to our skin, or lowering the sun visor in our car, or going indoors. It may be great for the sun at midday to shine without restriction, but for those subject to it's unforgiving heat and radiation, it's typically over the top. Of course there are times when that is an appropriate example to follow, though a likely miscalculation to expect others to appreciate it as much as we do. However, sometimes that should not be reason enough to hold back ones brightness and clear judgement.

The "don't be sad" part of 55 image maybe has to do with the decision and what we leave by choosing the other alternative. If I recall correct in the word decide , -cide means to kill. its what we do when we make a decision. We "kill" one of the two options.

Have never got 55 in times I feel abundance in a positive way. On the contrary, I get it it tough times.

LOL :)

Wow, I feel like a kid in a candy store! I actually thought of this shortly after your first post, which one I'd personally choose. Came to the conclusion that any one of them comes with a sweet and sour side to them. Think I'll choose the h5, thanks, and I'd like a line 5 with that, which comes with a free 11. :D

I always get 55 in 'tough' times too, but I find the power to turn the tides is with me and as in the image, in taking action based on decisions. In this way it has been expansive, in the end.

What I wanted to point out about riurik's post the most is that they were taking a rigid standpoint, it's as though riurik was saying that riurik's interpretation of what they have read about hex 55 is exactly what 55 is all about and implying that 55 is not something one should wish on another. And also slightly reminding me of how some see hexagrams as being either good bad, one way or the other.

I like ewald's word for 55, denseness. But I also have experienced 55 as per my android i ching app (which is not the best translation at all) as a peak experience. I always like to go back to the idea of the festival. And as you say sooo, one has to ask oneself can one stand the full exposure. There are times when I cannot stand the idea of going to a festival, the loudness and so many people etc. But sometimes I will go into the city just to walk in the crowds, I walk up and down the street just to be in the noise, the hoards of people, pedestrian surfing. It hones your senses, you make sharper choices.

If you eat the correct diet you do not need to wear sunscreen at all, your skin produces a natural sun screen, and if you are having sun/skin problems then you need to look at the whole picture of what is out of balance. Call me crazy, but I live under a big hole in the sky, in the driest country in the driest state and I don't wear sunscreen, but rather make wise choices about when to go out and what I'm eating, getting enough rest etc. etc.

What is the opposite state of 55?, I keep jumping to 41 but I think 41 and 42 are opposites in this way, the opposite of a lot would be nothing. 41= subtraction , 42 = addition, 55 = a lot, thats already present (not building or increasing) so its opposite would be nothing, nothingness, emptiness. I also see 55 as a very adult place to be.

As for the lines, they are mostly about the eclipse, the darkness happens outside of you, externally its not saying you should veer away from the light it just says the light goes away. If anything the lines speak of not being afraid of the light or the dark.

I remember one day I was really marinating in my own discontent sitting at my computer obsessively researching something and my right wrist was hurting so much from using the mouse without pause. When I finally had a brain snap I asked yi what is going on with me today? and got 55.3, also it was a bright sunny day outside and I had shut all my curtains and the light could only be seen in lines where the curtains met. I read the line and its judgement that there is nothing wrong, and in reading that I relaxed and I went outside and lay on the lawn and stopped feeling the need to be doing something and my locked brain unravelled, and my arm got to rest.

I dunno, in my observations the worries of 55 are created by the ego and when you let go of the ego you can enjoy the abundance, like being at a festival if you need to have control over your environment you prob will have a miserable time. I definitely have had to think a lot about 55 in any case because the interpretations and views in the community differ a lot, and even experiences that people post about seem so different that its difficult to find the common thread, except for yes a lot of something. Maybe too because its eclipse imagery and the striking story of king Wen. A lot of information!!! ( ;)

I would wish 55 for myself right now, because I feel ready for that kind of state, but last year I wanted 42, maybe next year i'll hope for 33. But my yearly reading was 29 > 3 so that is something else altogether.

the original chinese name is "Feng" ( like in feng shui )-Abundance . the bottom trigram is Li (fire, light) while upper trigram is Chen/Zhen - (thunder, move) together creating( or storing) enough chi for things to develop smoothly . in my experience unchanging 55 signals proximity.

the opposite state of 55 is thunder below / fire above -> 21 which also signals development but with a hard bite

I guess it's my rigid personality, but 豐 (Feng, the name in hex 55) is not like 风水 (Feng shui). Feng Shui is wind water in english.

Of course, everybody is free to interpret an hexagram in any possible way that makes sense to them.

yes , you are probably right except there is only one interpretation for my signature ( at least only one that makes sense )

I like what you say here, interesting observation, especially when not taking the word ego in a negative sense, but in a very real sense.

This literally happened to me one time while visiting someone overseas. I was at a local festival or carnival, and feeling entirely out of place, out of my familiar element as it was, and my own head was out of adjustment to boot. The noise and excited energy of the carnival made it all too much, I felt entirely out of control, and so left the carnival alone to seek a small and quiet place to gather myself. It was definitely a 55 experience.

55 unchanging was the first casting I have ever received. It was during a tough period, yes, but also a time when there was a lot of opportunity available as well. It was during my divorce. My ex and I had split, and I had a new job, new friends, new responsibilities, new home... It was a lot. A lot of money coming in too, a lot of new information too take in, I had 2 ferrets at the time, and was also addressing health issues... It was a lot, but actually a really good time for me all in all. It was just a lot to handle all at once. In hindsight, I think the IC was telling me to reserve some of this excess for the future, and maybe lighten my load a little bit as well... I take 55 now as a sign that there is a lot coming at you, and your going to have to keep it moving. Reserve some for that future time when the sun isn't as high in the sky, share some of the good with those less fortunate, and address the challenging aspects of 55 as they arise. But, overall, I liked my 55 experience. I think it is a tough time to handle, but is to me, a good omen. :)

Hex 55 brings in mind Arjuna and especially the dilemma he faces, as told in Bhagavad Gita.

This image is a study ...a painting I haven't finish yet based on that dilemma. To me is very 55.... well when receive 55 this is what comes in mind first.

arjuna-study-1.jpg

55 is not a bad hex, just a difficult time. it ask for a quick and efficient response. Freeze, stop any action, mourning its a luxury most of the times (in my experience).

I think we all have those gloomy lines or hex yet we have connected with nice memories, experiences. Its the times, I think, we have overcome difficulties, the times we needed that specific advice to move on. There is a condition in every line and in every hex. The *best* line could be bad and the "bad" line could be a big victory.

The more experienced members remind us all the time there is not a good a bad hex/line. Its what you make of it, me thinks

yeah that's what I was saying, and you said it in half a sentence!!! so much for my long winded posts, sorry about that, I was imbued with the spirit of 55.

I think its interesting to compare what 28 is and what 55 is. Also gato 21 is the opposite but I'm looking for a more literal opposite, not the opposite as in anatomical as in reverse inverse etc. Or um is that what you were saying? I guess what I'm now thinking is that 33 is an opposite experience to 55. I dont think 21 is, i think its quite similar but in 21 you get take more time to delineate what is going on and perhaps on one thing, and then law can be enforce STS but yi doesnt advise to carry them out as 55. So for my train of thought 21 wasn't what i was looking for, but unfortunately I'm not well versed on the anatomical variations.

sooo, yes I meant ego as in ego not as egotistical or egocentric. I chose to live in a very quite area because mostly I feel overwhelm by external stimuli, but some days I just love dissolving into the crowds. Its not totally egoless I still maintain my I, my POV, but its like you can feel the body of mankind in the mindless gathering hunt inside a shopping mall. lol. Everyone keeps singing community these days but often I see people meaning only their community, its hard to enjoy people and places that aren't your own but are human too. Sorry I've gone way off topic.

which is the opposite of 55 is an Interesting question CC.

I think there is more that one answer and that depend on which "trait" of 55 one focus.
H28 could be as there is an abundance of another kind but there one its better to leave the situation.

Hex 62 could be an opposite hex. There are big things you have to face in a 62 situation but maybe, unlike 55, you are not in a position to act in a big way. Also , some aspects of h54 could be said it opposite to 55.

oh yes, I see 54 the most. thanks!

28, though the image being the noble one not changing ones bearings, so you're saying one is best to leave to situation so how do you apply the image in this case. I mean I'm thinking now the resilience called for might be to not let the situation veer you off course. Is that what you mean? For the last six months almost every situation I go to yi to ask about has 28 in the reading, but they are situations I have to deal with as I'm the only one responsible for them, so its down to me, I cant leave them

I had in mind that : "It furthers one to have somewhere to go."
I didn't meant abandon /doing nothing , just having an alternative plan, the resilience you said. If you stay there either you might get drawn or the roof fall on your head. But I don't mean this is the only way to talk about 28. "hypervasis" is the word I like about 28.

oh yes sorry I get what you're saying now. Errr hate to continue the thread of me just asking you to explain things again to me but I've looked through the dictionary and cannot find hypervasis, what does it mean?

yes 59 is what I was thinking for the opposite.

I'm sorry CC. My bad. When I realized that there is not such a word in English I was already in bed

here are some meanings http://www.wordreference.com/gren/υπερβαίνω

But it is use in another manner too. Going beyond one's limits, using the extra strength. Its a state of mind one can say.

An example that may be useful.: I was working in a friends company. During the peek ( 2-3 weeks) our works schedule was. 8-4 normal 4-9 overtime and 9-2am our "hypervasis"

If I'll find another example/explanation will post it .

oh right, kind of like what I said about how I equate 55 with a peak experience and a opportunity to navigate with sharpened sensors.

I feel robbed that english doesn't contain an exact equivalent for hypervasis. Maybe neither the Angles nor the Saxons had hypervasis experiences, or they did but were so overwhelmed they couldn't make a decision as to which word would mean that ;)

Nope... wait a sec, culmination? no... its the thickest part isnt it.

Lol !! have no idea if there is an equivalent word. :)

An intriguing question is similarities and differences between 28 and 55.

But I have to do my own hypervasis and finish this #@#@ paper till 11th:rolleyes: , then I'll love to join such a discussion
