We come to the time of the South in August, the time of Hexagram 30, Li or Light and the birthday of Kong Fu Tzu.. In keeping with Chinese balance we have Shang Ti, the god of the North. The only deity powerful enough to control the inherent power of the direction North, yin. A male deity controlling yin.
In the South the Chinese seem to have lost the southern deity which should be a female entity. Guan Yin is often cited but she has been rather washed out as a deity of compassion and giving birth, or for women wanting to conceive.
Could it be the Japanese have not lost this female of such great power that she controls the yang energy of the south? Specifically her trigram I think would be Li, yang controlled by yin while Shang Ti would yin controlled by yang. controlled is not the best word so don't take it literally.
