Hi. I drew this reading when asking: Will Clinton or Obama win the primary?

21.4.6 Biting Through to 24 Returning

Now, Topal asked a much better question and thus probably got a much better answer!

But I don't like to be frivolous, and really didn't understand what the Yi might be saying with this answer. So I thought I'd ask if there are any thoughts out there? I am consistently struck with the readers' thoughtful replies here on this forum, and would like your take if you'd like to offer it.

I did love the "Returning" since this is about the election returns--isn't the I Ching funny that way? And don't know what "Biting Through" might refer to--that seems more like a kind of Tyson/Holifield (sp?) kind of answer:)

If you take Hex 21.4 for Clinton, it says she very powerful opponents to overcome, that it is going to be difficult but with perseverance she can do it.

Now if one takes Hex 21.6 for Obama this says he won't stop in his quest to win but his striving will lead to his downfall, he will be humiliated by defeat. His team are now warning him of defeat but he won't listen.

Hex 24 could mean a number of things, like returning to the White House and see all the friends that she made during her stay there. Or it could be a turning point coming soon in which the tide of votes go in her favour.

Based on this reading Clinton looks the winner.

Well . . . I guess the form of the question leads one to arbitrarily choose what applies to whom. Of the two, Hillary has expressed "striving" from the get go, beginning with her campaign slogan, the ego based "We're in it to Win it!"

Obama has managed to present and maintain a consistent message of unity and hope, with at least the appearance that he truly wants to serve.

As I'm typing this here in New Mexico, the two are separated by less that 200 votes with 90% of the precincts reporting. Regardless of the final result, a dead-heat is huge for Obama, if only because of the percentage of the Hispanic population here.

The current delegate split and the states remaining favor Obama as well. I like his chances. It seems to support the reading of the initial Super Tuesday thread, IMHO.

A female trigram is on top of a male trigram in hex 21 and hex 24.
This means that the woman will win.

Just kidding, I don't know. :)
But I think Hillary would make a better president. Obama feels a bit over the top, Hillary seems more stable, better roots.

I also believe that Clinton has a much better chance than Obama in the presidential elections.
If Obama becomes the democratic candidate he might very well lose to the republican candidate (McCain probably), but Clinton, I don't think she can lose. That has to do with the popularity of her husband and other factors.
So if the democrats are wise they go for Clinton.

Martin, doingnotdoing, and Willowfox

All your remarks are pithy and thought-provoking. Personally, I tend to favor Obama, simply because my dad is a staunch Republican and I've heard him bad-mouthing the Clintons for so long that at least a little bit of it has sunk into my subconscious, I guess (you know, "where there's smoke, there's fire" kind of thing). I guess I really don't trust either the Republican or Democratic party--it all feels a little too much like someone's done a "divide and conquer" on us, making us think we have a choice, but they all act the same when in office.

BUT, I did notice, duh....that hexagram 21 is about the law. Hilary seems to be the one that particular hex would point to. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

At any rate, thanks again for your thoughtful replies.
